The Experience

Slow down as you spiral up from Lake Como to a 400-year-old cascina floating in Spina Verde’s bucolic hills. Be inspired by soaring Alpine views and by Samuel’s stylish eco-friendly restoration. The smell of fresh pine wafts through stone-walled bedrooms with huge beams, fireplaces, oriental rugs and bold red splashes. You lay your sleepy head on organic pillows, scribble postcards on reclaimed tables, fling open shutters to mountain views. Nature keeps the old farm estate beautiful with wild flowers, birds, bees and other creatures who buzz, tweet, flutter and scurry around the chestnuts, fruit trees and olives. Stroll through them to a hidden thousand-year-old sanctuary. Breakfast – perhaps homemade pancakes, organic eggs, garden berries – is a treat under the portico or in the vaulted Sala da Pranzo, where logs crackle in a new fireplace. Above this, an ‘Open Space’ offers a blank, bean-bagged canvas for creative gatherings. Pop to the village restaurant for dinner or roll through the hills to Switzerland. Samuel and Mimma’s enthusiasm for this special spot will warm your spirit, and the scenery will thrill your heart.

Reviews

Damian, Berlin

Set in the the green hills near Lake Como, quiet and beautiful. The newly finished natural pond , Samuel‘s cooking and hospitality, and his attention to detail are what make Cascina Rodiani special. Highly recommended!!

David, Bristol

This is an enchanting place - beautifully converted to provide several spacious and very tasteful rooms - and Samuel is a delightful and thoughtful host. The home-cooked food is delicious, we swam in the newly-created pond and were the first people to use the lovely new sauna. It is hard to believe that such a secluded place is only a few miles from bustling Como. It really is a hidden gem.

Catharina, Utrecht, Netherlands

We had a lovely stay in beautiful park like surroundings. Dinner and breakfast were served by Samuel, a great host, on the veranda with fresh, simple and high quality tasty food. The view from the veranda in front of our room in the evening was like a fairytale. We tremendously enjoyed our stay at the Cascina Rodiani.

Mark, Brighton

We are a family of 5 staying in the 2 bedroom suite. While it is a little way out of the main part of Como, Samuel picked us up and dropped us off at the station and, when possible, drove us around. He cooked two simple and utterly delicious meals for us. Breakfast was both healthy and tasty. We were also privileged to be the first guests to use his naturally filtered eco-pool/pond. This place is an amazing bargain for anyone who’s prepared to stay a bit out of the way in a delightful, relaxing and beautiful setting.

Carole, Frankfurt and London

Sadly we could not stay long enough..but driving up the windy road from Como to find this wonderful historical house proudly handsome and tranquil amidst it's luscious grounds was magical. Samuel, who is a very caring and informative host, obviously puts much effort and care into it's environmental sustainability. A man of many talents, he also cooks for his guests the delicious food on offer. Como and many other attractions also close by..highly recommended by Carole&Wilf.. London/Frankfurt
