The Experience

Slow down as you spiral up from Lake Como to a 400-year-old cascina floating in Spina Verde’s bucolic hills. Be inspired by soaring Alpine views and by Samuel’s stylish eco-friendly restoration. The smell of fresh pine wafts through stone-walled bedrooms with huge beams, fireplaces, oriental rugs and bold red splashes. You lay your sleepy head on organic pillows, scribble postcards on reclaimed tables, fling open shutters to mountain views. Nature keeps the old farm estate beautiful with wild flowers, birds, bees and other creatures who buzz, tweet, flutter and scurry around the chestnuts, fruit trees and olives. Stroll through them to a hidden thousand-year-old sanctuary. Breakfast – perhaps homemade pancakes, organic eggs, garden berries – is a treat under the portico or in the vaulted Sala da Pranzo, where logs crackle in a new fireplace. Above this, an ‘Open Space’ offers a blank, bean-bagged canvas for creative gatherings. Pop to the village restaurant for dinner or roll through the hills to Switzerland. Samuel and Mimma’s enthusiasm for this special spot will warm your spirit, and the scenery will thrill your heart.

Reviews

Anne, Amersfoort

We had great time at this beautifully restored old house and Samuel was the perfect host and the food was delicious. It is a wonderful place! Thank you so much for the lovely, relaxing time!

Isabelle, Geneva

Samuel is the careful and generous host in this beautiful former farm set in the hills, outside Como. We very much appreciated the time he took to give us advice and the wonderful breakfasts he prepared. We also recommand his delicious dinners. Gook luck, Samuel and looking forward to seeing you again.

TONY, HARROGATE

We had a very warm welcome at this lovely rustic retreat. Our room was very comfortable and airy with the added bonus of a kettle, so we were able to enjoy a hot, refreshing mug of tea every night on the terrace. Bliss! Samuel was a great host and very helpful and informative. Very tasty and nutritious breakfasts freshly prepared with home sourced organic ingredients were a great start to the day. In summary a real gem and excellent value.

William, Derby

What a lovely experience! Samuel, and all his ongoing hard work, at Cascina Rodiani provided us with a wonderful stay for five nights. The welcome, food, surroundings and general calmness were all top quality. Samuel's breakfasts and cooking kept us well-sustained and his very friendly approach in supplying varied info and guidance on where to go and what to see in the stunning area of Lago di Como made the holiday. The room we had was very well furnished and relaxing and breakfast and dinner on the terrace was luxurious. We highly recommend Cascina Rodiani and we will certainly visit again.

Jean, Gent

I can fully agree with all the other putstanding comments. It was really an exceptional b&b with a fantastic host. We travel 10 year with Sawday's, this was one of our best experiences. Is you want to stay in the region, and like to stay in the nature, dont look any further...
