The Experience

Sign the blackboard if you’re staying for dinner – and why wouldn’t you when the menu is so tantalising? Everything here is produced locally or on the farm (including Mama’s plum jam); Paolo’s enthusiasm for his venture is intoxicating. He once used to nip between Italy and London with a precious cargo of truffles for top chefs. Since then he’s been busy restoring his grandparents’ old farm and creating this rustic haven. Find traditional interiors, stepped vine-clad terraces, nesting boxes for birds and a beautiful oval pool. Bedrooms are warm and cosy with beamed ceilings, beds are in keeping with the country style and there’s rosy brick flooring throughout. Image a day spent lolling by the pool or in a hammock by the stream as the children make friends with the donkeys, rabbits, hens… and two truffle-hunting hounds! Mushrooms from the garden, truffles from the hills, homemade tagliatelle, biscotti and sweet wine… such bounty is served at long rustic tables under the vine-covered terrace or by the wood fire. If you can tear yourself away, the Sibillini mountains and the Adriatic are close. Slow heaven.

Reviews

Julien, Valkenburg

Mooie vijver! Toppie!

This beautiful house is set in a quiet green valley. There are many villages markets and festivals to explore. Paolo is committed to using seasonal and local products in his cooking, many of which come from his own farm. Black truffle at breakfast grated over scrambled eggs, provided by Paolo’s own Ancona chickens is a great start. If you visit between October and February you might sample the white truffle, one of the most expensive delicacies in the world, with wild asparagus. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the suite with its balcony has spectacular views of the local village Force.

This was our first time staying at an agriturismo and we loved it! The location was great, hospitality (Paolo) wonderful and the scenery gorgeous. Great dinners and tips on what to visit in the area. The rooms were lovely and the grounds beautiful. Would love to go back one day.

A peaceful and beautiful location. My children loved the pool and the animals and Paolo patiently let them tag along when feeding the animals and letting them out each day. We greatly enjoyed Paolo's home cooked food and eating with other guests each day was a great opportunity to meet some really lovely people. Paolo was nothing but helpful and always happy to accommodate the varied tastes of his younger guests when planning his menus. The children have now requested to return each year! I would thoroughly recommend Ramuse for those wanting a break from it all with delicious food and wine

Don't go to Agriturismo Ramuse if you don't want to fall in love, because you will. The house, scenery, local area and everything about the place is just enchanting but the icing on the cake is Paulo, your host. His infectious enthusiasm for everything he does will grip you and enfold you and will leave you with warm memories. I rarely visit a place twice because there is so much world out there that I haven't seen - and I want to see it all - but, somehow, I think I'll be going back to this little nugget of sunshine because one visit probably isn't enough.
