The Experience

Mornings have a gentle feel; the scent of coffee fills the air, sunlight filters through the windows and the delightful salon becomes a breakfast room: freshly baked pistachio-filled croissants, cassatelle and ricotta cannoli, soft brioche, yogurts, fruits, cheeses and charcuterie, eggs how you like them – a feast. A taste of Sicily, one bite at a time.

Bedrooms are utterly spoiling – some have private balconies where you can have breakfast delivered, others with rooftop views, each with its own character, and all with beautiful beds, soft lighting and sparkling bathrooms. It’s more like visiting a historic home that you’re allowed to stay in, rather than a hotel.

Step out into the Piazza del Duomo, wrapped in Sicilian architecture that rises from dark volcanic stone and the iconic Fontana dell’Elefante. You can stroll to restaurants, shop for perfumes, fashion and lovely things to take home, embrace historic Catania.

Location

The neighbourhood

A mere 100m away begins Via Etnea, the city's main artery lined with shops, cafés, historic buildings and constant movement. For architecture lovers, the UNESCO-listed Via dei Crociferi is just a seven-minute walk – a masterpiece of late Sicilian Baroque elegance. Osteria Bell'Antonio serves the freshest fish, traditional Catanese and Sicilian dishes, with simple flavours cooked perfectly.

Local points of interest from Renato Di Prima

  • Right next to Palazzo Marletta, Via Etnea is considered "the salon" of the city. While strolling along the most elegant avenue of Catania, lose yourself as your eye wanders between remarkable Baroque and Liberty palaces, and Mount Etna on the horizon.
  • Catania’s historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding late Baroque architecture. Key highlights include Piazza Duomo and its Cathedral of St. Agata, the City Hall known as Palazzo degli Elefanti, and the unique Via dei Crociferi.
  • A Piscarìa: 2 minutes' walk from the hotel, Catania's historic fish market is one of the city's most authentic and recognisable areas. With its colours and liveliness, the market offers fresh seafood and a genuine insight into daily local life.
  • Panoramic terraces of Badia di Sant'Agata and San Nicolò L'Arena churches: the terraces of these two UNESCO World Heritage Site churches offer breathtaking views to admire the city from above and Mount Etna on the horizon.
  • Michelin-starred restaurants Coria and Sapio: the multi-award-winning cuisine of their young chefs mingles with Sicilian tradition, giving guests the chance to taste the delicious, once-in-a-lifetime courses served in intimate and cosy settings.
  • Catania offers a wide range of culinary experiences. Enjoy excellent seafood at Osteria Il Bell'Antonio, authentic regional dishes at Antica Sicilia, or try Ostier by Giordana Iuppa for a more contemporary interpretation of Sicilian flavours.
