The Experience
Malaga Hills sits high up in the mountains east of Malaga, in one of Europe’s sunniest corners. Bedrooms are spacious and most have their own terraces with wonderful views – generous breakfasts are best enjoyed outside in the morning sunshine. Hikers will be happy with trails starting almost from the door – set off on the spectacular route through the white villages of the Axarquia, with the Caminito de la Axarquia being hailed as one of the most beautiful walks in Spain by the Spanish Hiking Federation.
Swim in the large heated pool, chill in the infrared sauna, book a massage or treatment, browse the 3,000 volume library or keep fit in the gym. There are glorious views from the terrace out towards hills dotted with white-washed villas, the La Maroma mountain peak, and down to the coast.
The hotel is Green Key certified and guests enjoy it hugely. It’s a tranquil base for hiking, winter sunshine, wellness and a little pampering.

Malaga Hills is definitely a retreat from the busy world of the coast, here you can relax, enjoy the beautiful scenery and unwind in the sunshine. The rooms are very comfortable, ours had a lovely terrace overlooking the hills and out to sea. Breakfasts are tasty, coffee especially good! Stars of the show are the hosts, Ruud, Vrenelli, Estrella and Estele. They do everything they can to make your stay comfortable and tailored to you. They had lots of suggestions of where to visit, especially restaurants in the locality. Suberb Andalusian food in them all! Thank you for a great holiday.

We had a lovely stay at Malaga Hills. Estrella, Vreneli and Ruud did everything they could to make us feel welcome and relaxed. The breakfasts were delicious, especially after morning yoga, the walk recommendations were thoughtful and tailored to our needs, and the facilities make everything feel easy and relaxing. All set in beautiful mountains with the coast in view.

Malaga Hills Boutique Wellness Eco Hotel is a true gem. Nestled in the hills, it offers stunning views and an atmosphere of total serenity. Every detail of the property feels thoughtfully designed to inspire relaxation and connection with nature. The breakfast is absolutely delicious: fresh, unique and a perfect start to the day. The spaces throughout the hotel are beautiful and uplifting. What truly sets this place apart, though, are the hosts - Estrella, Vréneli, and Ruud. Their warmth, care, and passion for what they’ve created make you feel genuinely welcomed and at home.

Location
The neighbourhood
The hotel is situated on a quiet, residential no-through road. It’s peaceful, with the gentle sounds of birds, crickets, and a distant barking dog. A ten-minute walk takes you to various dining options and small shops. There are several restaurants in the Roman square with inviting terraces where you can dine outside even during mild winters. The village is bordered by a nature reserve, the Tejeda and Almijara Natural Park. There are numerous short trails and longer ones that meander by the river, along the coast, or high up in the mountains. The owners can give you lots of tips on good walks and you're just two hours from ski-ing on the Sierra Nevada slopes..
Local points of interest from Vréneli & Ruud
- SUNNY WINTERSIt’s a wonderful climate. Even in winter, it feels like spring. In the sunny winter months, we welcome many English hiking enthusiasts who come to enjoy the mild weather and beautiful landscapes., our heated Pool .And all restaurants ARE OPEN!
- BEACHES In just half an hour, you can reach some of the most beautiful hidden beaches — far away from the mass tourism of the Costa del Sol. Tranquil, unspoiled, and perfect for a peaceful day by the sea.
- HAVING DIFFICULTY WALKING?We are in the heart of the mountains, where the terrain is naturally uneven and not flat. If you have difficulty walking, our location may therefore not be ideal for you. That said, all areas can be reached by car.
- ART. The village hosts regular art walks, inviting you to explore its workshops and art galleries. Nestled at the mountain's base (14 kilometers away, a 30-minute drive) is a stunning golf course complemented by various beaches.
- CULTURE. Within a two-hour drive, you can explore some of Spain's most beautiful cities, including Malaga, Seville, Cordoba, and Granada (home to the Alhambra).

Introducing
Vréneli & Ruud
Friendly Ruud and Vréneli (both Dutch) live on-site in a private apartment. Ruud brings entrepreneurial expertise in marketing and IT while Vréneli specialises in training and coaching highly educated women and is a feminist and published writer. They are both committed to sustainability.
We enjoyed a very nice week at Malaga Hills. The welcome, service, room design, facilities, and views were outstanding. The breakfast was superb. Malaga Hills run a sort of virtual concierge service via WhatsApp whereby a member of staff gives advice and makes reservations, which was very very helpful. Why not 10?… The gradient of the final 300 m of drive could be seen by some as intimidating. Overall, an excellent stay.
