The Experience

Malaga Hills sits high up in the mountains east of Malaga, in one of Europe’s sunniest corners. Bedrooms are spacious and most have their own terraces with wonderful views – generous breakfasts are best enjoyed outside in the morning sunshine. Hikers will be happy with trails starting almost from the door – set off on the spectacular route through the white villages of the Axarquia, with the Caminito de la Axarquia being hailed as one of the most beautiful walks in Spain by the Spanish Hiking Federation.

Swim in the large heated pool, chill in the infrared sauna, book a massage or treatment, browse the 3,000 volume library or keep fit in the gym. There are glorious views from the terrace out towards hills dotted with white-washed villas, the La Maroma mountain peak, and down to the coast.

The hotel is Green Key certified and guests enjoy it hugely. It’s a tranquil base for hiking, winter sunshine, wellness and a little pampering.

We had a wonderful stay at this peaceful B&B. Ruud, Vreneli, and Estrella were very welcoming and helped with everything — from early breakfasts to great hiking tips. Our room was small but cool and comfy, and after each hike we enjoyed relaxing there. The B&B has plenty of quiet spots to sit and unwind, both inside and outside, which adds to the calm atmosphere. A lovely place to recharge and explore the beautiful surroundings.

Me and my girlfriend had a very pleasant time at Malaga hills. The hosts and staff are amazing people. It’s possible to choose out of a variety of different activities to make your stay as smooth and calmly as possible. You decide to make a Yoga lesson in the morning? Just let the staff via WhatsApp know and they arrange everything needed. Malaga Hills is located in a very beautiful place surrounded by hills, nature and lovely little villages like Cómpeta or Canillas de Albaida. So if you like to calm down from stress or just need a relaxing time, this is the perfect stay.

Louisa, London

Malaga Hills is such a special place. Beautiful, quiet and relaxing but also great for hiking. We were looked after so well by Vreneli, Ruud and Estrella who not only provided a fabulous room and breakfast but also booked all our restaurants for us and advised on some fantastic hikes including Maroma the highest mountain in the area. We loved it.

Location

The neighbourhood

The hotel is situated on a quiet, residential no-through road. It’s peaceful, with the gentle sounds of birds, crickets, and a distant barking dog. A ten-minute walk takes you to various dining options and small shops. There are several restaurants in the Roman square with inviting terraces where you can dine outside even during mild winters. The village is bordered by a nature reserve, the Tejeda and Almijara Natural Park. There are numerous short trails and longer ones that meander by the river, along the coast, or high up in the mountains. The owners can give you lots of tips on good walks and you're just two hours from ski-ing on the Sierra Nevada slopes..
