The Experience

This charming 18th-century manor is set in spacious grounds where stone paths lead from the swimming pool through a sea of oleander or olive groves and a duo of palm trees look magical silhouetted against the sunset. Enormous rocks surround a Japanese zen garden and vegetables grown on site are yours for the picking.

The farmhouse kitchen is kitted out with all you need to cook, or speak to housekeeper Edith, who lives in the annexe next door with her husband. She can rustle up fabulous local fare using produce from the island and fish direct from the sea; the island’s native pig, the Negre Mallorquí, produces a fabulous range of cured specialities too.

The laid-back little town of Santanyí, a 15-minute drive away, has two big supermarkets, a delicatessen and a butcher, and a place to rent bikes or motorbikes. Hire a boat at Portoperto or visit the lovely beach, Cala Mon Drago, set in a nature reserve.

Reviews

We so enjoyed our stay at Es Pins. What a beautiful place it was to relax for a week - we had really good weather and so enjoyed the space and its landscape. Editha and Alex looked after us wonderfully and Harvey was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended!

I’m reluctant to leave a review, as this is such a wonderful, special place I want to keep it to myself! It’s a really lovely house, with characterful and spacious rooms, and the pool are garden are exceptional. We were there in August, and it was still green and full of flowers and fruits, and I imagine it must be lovely in Spring. Harvey was a great host, happy to answer (my many!) questions and very helpful. While Edita and her husband were lovely people, extremely helpful and kind, but also very tactful and respectful of our privacy. We had a magical time.

Es Pins is just the most magical place to stay. A real home, with an amazing atmosphere, filled with gorgeous original elements combined with great art, ceramics , it’s all so relaxed and inviting. The outside space is breathtaking with a huge azure blue pool, majestic palm trees and so many places to eat, or relax or sunbathe, or wander about, every corner revealing another perfect view. And each bedroom with an outside area to have breakfast or drinks and look at the sea or the church…

Impressions of our recent visit to Es Pins: October 15th 2022, Es Pins, St. Alqueria Blanca We had such balmy warmth With deep dew, yielding a landscape in rich colour The pomegranates bursting their ruddy skins And falls of pink, those generous trumpeting flowers Cascading from the pergola, nightly, daily Joyous still We drank it in. A house full of treasures, Wooden sculpture, ceramic surprises and views Painting, prints in the shadows pleasing the eye Kitchen cupboards spilling rustic bowls Their generosity filled with our cooking-up Joyous daily Feasting around the table.

Jean, Bedford

A group of friends or family will be well pleased with the comfort and beauty of this home and its setting. Set yourselves in chill mode and enjoy walks or cycling in the near vicinity and down to the coast, have delectable meals prepared by longtime housekeeper, Edith, or just catch up on your reading immersed in the tropical garden poolside. The season is long - year round - so stay a while.

Location

The neighbourhood

The house is on the outskirts of Alqueria Blanca, at the south-eastern tip of the island and away from the summer crowds. A bakery that also stocks wine and the basics is a five-minute walk, along with a tapas bar, an Italian restaurant and a restaurant serving inexpensive local fare. There are lots of local taxis if you want to eat out further away.

Local points of interest from Harvey Herrmann

  • The beautiful twin beaches of Mondrago in the national park are 10 minutes away by car. You can walk across fields into the village of Alqueria Blanca with tapas and bar in the square, bakers, shops and restaurants in 5 minutes.
  • You can see the beautiful hill top religious sanctuary from the house and enjoy walking up there in 30 minutes. Beautiful sea views too from the utterly peaceful house. Twice weekly markets in Santanyi are 10 minutes away.
  • Don't forget the popular local market in Alqueria Blanca every Tuesday if you can bear to leave the pool and grounds.

Introducing

Harvey Herrmann

Harvey has owned Fincas since the 80s when he first fell in love with South East Mallorca and the mountains of the Sierra Levante. Es Pins reflects his own house style and love of antiques. He enjoys swimming at Cala Mondrago and often meets guests there or in the village. He divides his time between Mallorca and London.
