The Experience
The beach is a short walk, the cliff path crosses National Trust coastline, the quiet village has a surf school, snazzy restaurant, shop and fish ‘n’ chips: all the ingredients for a terrific seaside holiday. The cottages are part of a horseshoe of converted farm buildings with communal gardens all tucked into a hillside with views over the Vale of Lanherne and out to sea.
Underfloor heating and roaring fires keep you warm in the open-plan living rooms. Soak in a roll top bath; blast away sand under a huge shower head outside No 6. Cook in sunny kitchens that catch the morning sun and, if you take both cottages, there’s plenty of room for 10 at the table.
Outside: watch the sunset over the bay with an evening drink and gaze up at the ‘living roof’ of flowers. Explore a coastline of stunning coves and beaches or tackle the coastal path which stretches to Newquay, Watergate Bay and Padstow (good bus service, too) and there’s a friendly outdoor cafe with ducks and geese down the valley on your way to the ancient village of St Mawgan – a 40-minute walk through woodland and fields.

It is safe to say that we have fallen in love with Mawgan Porth, and No.6 has been an absolute dream of comfort and cosiness - I believe this is what they call 'Hygge' in Scandinavia (the concept of finding comfort, pleasure and warmth in simple, soothing things) well, No. 6 is a temple of Hygge. November is maybe an underrated time of year for a beach holiday - I think it might be my new favourite. It was quiet and beautiful, and it was such a treat to return from a cliff walk, or a nippy swim, a fresh surf, to cuddle up around a log fire at No.6. Thank you Carol! I highly recommend :)

This well positioned cottage exceeded all expectations. It was beautifully refurbished to make a delightful and spacious holiday home. it was well appointed with everything that was needed in every respect. It was impeccably clean with a high standard od bed linen. Even though we didn't have a car and a three year old for one of our two week stay we found plenty to do. We hope to return!

We spent a wonderful week in 5 Porth Farm Cottages.. The cottage is beautiful - charming, cosy and really well equipped.. The underfloor heating was so good we never got round to lighting the fire! Our toddler twins loved the luxurious double shower and playing in the gardens. The beach is stunning and dog friendly and the coastal path is just 5 minutes from the front door. Excellent cream teas at Carnewas National Trust an easy hike along the cliffs. Would love to come back!

The neighbourhood
You're in an AONB owned by the National Trust and the whole coastline is dotted with iron age forts and settlements. There's a little shop in the village, a fish and chip shop, a restaurant and two cafes, but you'll need to go to Newquay to stock up properly. The South West Coast Path is on your doorstep for bracing walks - seven miles to Newquay and Watergate Bay. Mawgan Porth beach is a five-minute walk and you'll find a good pub in St Mawgan - a very pretty 40-minute walk.

Introducing
Carol & Peter Misch
Carol, Peter and their now grown-up children used to rent whichever of the cottages was available from the owners, who had bought and developed the farm buildings in the 1930s. They came for the beach and surf and when the cottages came up for sale just had to buy them. Using talented craftsmen to build the internal woodwork and guided by Peter’s very specific eye for detail they created two uncluttered cottages perfect for summer and winter stays.
No5 Porth Farm Cottage is a delightful and well equipped place to stay. The owner makes every effort to make you feel cosy and welcome. The location is fabulous, quiet yet close to Mawgan Porth Beach. The gardens back and front give an extended feeling of space with beautiful views over the countryside and the sea. A fantastic holiday location.
