The Experience
Standing like sentries guarding the village pub and green below are two whitewashed 1820s roundhouses with thatched roofs and crosses – believed to keep the devil away. Ingenious how everything fits so neatly within the curving walls in this cosy, quirky hideaway that’s full of local art and retro touches.
Step out from the kitchen extension with a morning espresso, park yourself on a lounger and watch the seagulls swoop in the pretty cottage garden. When night falls, soak in the roll top bath, then retire to an enormous bed under a vaulted ceiling.
Bring bicycles, dogs, kit for the beach and walking boots for the South West Coast Path; the Roseland Peninsula is awash with secret coves and seaside restaurants.

A relaxing break in the relaxing, well equipped and unique Round House East. From the superb and spacious kitchen to the large and comfortable lounge offering an eclectic mix of furnishings and decor, Round House East with its surrounding countryside and beaches is a place to unwind and enjoy the Cornish Roseland. We had a wonderful holiday, and know that others who are fortunate to call Round House East home for a short time will find a reason to return again and again.

We had a very relaxing week at the Round House East. The house itself is beautiful and has some lovely personal touches that show its a home that is loved and cared for. Everything you could possibly want is there; treats for the dogs, a well thought out welcome pack, coffee machine, and an amazing entertainment system. The location is good - Pendower Beach when the tide is out cannot be beaten - and the local pub serves good home made pub food. Ian as the host of the property is also very helpful and accommodating. All in all, we would highly recommend.

We had super week despite the weather. The cottage is quite wonderful, quirky but very comfortable. There is a beach nearby where we walked the dogs early before visiting all the lovely spots nearby. Can't recommend it too highly.

Once again a restful and peaceful break at the Round House East .All our needs catered for within a relaxing environment created by Ian Rose. Sam, our golden Labradour, loves the nearby beaches and feels fully 'at home' with the special nick-nacks left for pets. Highly recommended - look forward to our next visit.

Location
The neighbourhood
The friendly village of Veryan is on the Roseland Peninsula, close to St. Mawes and within easy reach of Truro, via the King Harry Ferry - voted one of the most scenic ferry trips in the world. The welcoming New Inn serves St Austell beers and good pub food and is just 150 yards from the Roundhouse. The village also has a shop, Post Office and a weekly W.I. market. The South West Coastal Path is close by, it’s a 1.5 mile walk to Portloe beach with pretty Carne and Pendower nearby.
Local points of interest from Ian Rose
- The Hidden Hut is an hour or so's walk along the coast path, perfect for lunch or, if you can get a table, supper on one of their feast nights.
- Walk down from St Anthony Head to the beaches at Great Molunan or Little Molunan. Great views over the Fal Estuary and Carrick Roads and maybe have a swim.
- Freshly caught crab, hand-picked and ready to eat, scallops and whatever fish has come in with the boat, from Curgurrell Farm. Wonderful with Da Bara crusty bread and Camel Valley sparkling wine.
- Walk to Melinsey Mill via Pendower Beach, take tea and enjoy their home-made cakes, or some quiche with a glass of Betty Stogg's, brewed by Skinner's Brewery in Truro.
- Pop over to Da Bara bakery cafe to pick up amazing bread (we love the sourdough), pastries and pies, and fantastic coffee - they have specials for dinner once a week too.

Introducing
Ian Rose
Londoner Ian Rose studied in the West Country and has holidayed there for years. He bought Round House East in 2006 and loves finding new pieces that complement the character of this quirky Grade II retreat. He now lives and works in Sweden and is delighted to provide a base for guests wanting to explore the stunning Cornish coastline. You can bring your hound too - many of the beaches are dog-friendly.
Another wonderful two weeks at this lovely cottage. We have been coming here for 10 years and have not found anywhere else to equal it - a real home from home and Ian provides everything that could be needed for a relaxing, cosy and comfortable stay. We love the village and its surrounds. The village shop is well stocked and the New Inn, which is just a short walk down the hill does great food. Can't recommend it enough!!
