Old Red Lion

The property was amazing, the pictures do not do it justice. It felt homely and was full of character. We would definitely stay again. Hilary is a great host. She was proactive in contacting us and the information pack we were supplied covered everything. We would 100% recommend staying at the Old Red Lion.

The Old Red Lion is a wonderful, historical 3 storey grade 2 listed converted coaching inn. It’s nestled down a small medieval lane just off of the Market place in Blandford Forum. Upon entering the house you are immediately hit by a welcoming and cosy vibe. There is so much space (plenty for a group of 7 adults) and each room is thoughtfully laid out and furnished. We absolutely loved the extra sitting room on the first floor and all being able to spread out around the very large dining table. All in all a perfect place for a family get together to celebrate a 60th birthday!

We had a fabulous stay at The Old Red Lion for my Uncle's 85th birthday weekend. The house was spotless, super cosy and better equipped than any holiday house that I have ever stayed in (or some peoples homes for that matter!)! It was a very interesting building to explore and imagine what it has seen over the years....Hilary was an excellent host who kept in touch and made sure that we were settled in OK. Even the neighbours were super friendly and helpful. The staircase was tricky but we all managed it even after many glasses of champagne!

Hilary’s house was amazing very beautiful with such a lovely feel, in a great location great hosts couldn’t do more with good communication. They have everything you would need for a long stay or short. Really was the perfect place.

This is a beautiful cottage with lots of space for family. All rooms are beautifully done and lacks for nothing. Hilary was a wonderful host. Loved the details that made our stay feel so special.

My stay at the Old Red Lion House couldn't have been better; It is a lovely and exceeding comfortable home with much character and Hilary is an exemplary host. The neighbours are also very welcoming and Blandford Forum is a very pleasant town and well-placed to visit local attractions such as Poole, Durdle Door, Corfe Castle and so on. We found it an ideal focal point from which everything was within a 30-minute drive. For a holiday in Dorset I would look no further.

Hilary’s home is absolutely beautiful! It was easy to locate due to the instruction pack Hilary included, which was very clear and helpful. My family and I visited Blandford Forum for a story telling event in Cranborne, local pub grub and drinks were superb. The home accommodated 8 people with ease, the communal area of the lounge and kitchen was ample for sitting down, chatting, and catching up on the days events. There is a perfect blend of style and homeliness :) the log burner cranked out a superb amount of heat too! Hilary’s communication and response time was impeccable, thank you again!

We four friends really enjoyed our stay in Blandford Forum. The house was great - it worked brilliantly for us, allowing us each our own bedroom, two sitting-rooms and two bathrooms to share between four of us. We loved dining in - everything being easy to use and accessible. We loved the quirky corners and features in the house and managed to navigate the stone staircase even in our rather mature years 😉 There was a lovely welcome tea tray, comfortable beds and soft towels apiece. We would definitely return to this lovely house tucked away in a quiet spot just literally off the high street.

WOW what a stunning house, we had the most fantastic time, this really is a little (big) gem. So much space, gorgeous thoughtful interiors and welcome treats left for us. The beds were super comfy and the kids toys went down a storm with the children. We will definitely be coming back. The area is beautiful and not far from stunning beaches. Hillary is a 5* host communication was excellent. Fantastic relaxing weekend away.

Most comfortable home from home. Beautifully furnished, incredible comfortable, warm, lots hot water for a bath, fully equipped kitchen, great off street parking, lovely log fire and delightful neighbours. Nicest airbandb we have stayed in ever!!

Beautiful cottage. Really warm and cosy - we loved the wood burner stove. Bedrooms are gorgeous and the beds are very comfortable. And it was all spotlessly clean. We will be back!

My family and I had a very comfortable stay in The Red Lion house. The house is very well equipped and is genuinely a home from home experience. Centrally located in Blandford Forum with easy access to several supermarkets and slightly further afield very good eateries. I would recommend this spacious, attractive and comfortable home.

We had such a wonderful weekend at the Old Red Lion. The house is beautiful, in a great location and incredibly well-equipped. Both the living areas and the bedrooms are very comfortable. We enjoyed lovely walks around Blandford as well as exploring villages and small towns nearby. A fabulous weekend!

We really enjoyed our all too short stay in The Old Red Lion. It is a characterful, comfortable and cosy place to spend time and it is very well equipped with everything you might need and more. Highly recommended.

This proved a perfect choice for our multi generational six day stay. Tasteful decoration and comfortable furnishings add to the feel of this cosy and quirky house with plenty of space for kids to play and adults relax. With unexpectedly warm weather our grandchildren loved visiting the beautiful beaches in the area. The neighbours were very friendly as was Hilary's lovely housekeeper who keeps the house exceptionally clean and welcoming...a perfect place for a getaway.

We had a fab few days staying at Hilary’s place in Blandford. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, virtually a home from home. All the rooms were lovely and comfortable, the house has so much charm and character, as do the lovely neighbours along the row. It is a perfect base to stay whilst exploring the fab beaches and attractions of Dorset, we will definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely time. Lucy and Felipe.

What a treat to escape to such a special place.... We have loved being here... Everywhere you look you see something delightful that makes you smile and warms your heart. All four days spent in Old Red Lion House were truly happy and wonderful days. We feel incredibly lucky :-) Thank you Hillary for creating such a beautiful and magical space and sharing it with us.. Thank you too for being so thoughtful and kind ....The extra touches were also much appreciated (Welcome Tray with Biscuits & Prosecco and the generous amount of logs by the fireplace) We hope to come back again next time!
