The Experience

Behind its grand oak doors, you’ll find a home that’s both historic and warming with William Morris wallpapers, carved fireplaces and stained glass rubbing shoulders happily with modern comforts. Gather together in the panelled dining hall, find a book to read in the library, or settle in the grand drawing room with its wood burner and piano. Children, or those needing a little quiet time, will head for the cosy snug. The big kitchen has all the kit you might need for conjuring up big meals on the lovely double Aga and a separate pantry with an enormous fridge/freezer.

On balmy days you can play croquet on the lawn, have a picnic by the medieval lake or sizzle something on the barbecue in the courtyard garden.  In winter, you’ll find decorated halls, roaring fires and a grand staircase dressed for Christmas.

Characterful and colourful bedrooms (six in the North Wing and five in the South Wing) have the most delightful rural views.

Reviews

As a destination for a big get-together, Rowden Abbey is hard to beat. A sense of fun and history pervades the house, you have use of both master's and servants' wings, and much is original and deeply characterful. The setting is sublime, with mature specimen trees, a lake and glorious views. There is much to do all around but you may never leave your gorgeously peaceful and beautiful bubble. A gem.

An absolutely fabulous venue with the most attentive host. The house is in an excellent state of repair and furnished to a very high standard. Lots of different spaces both large and small made this ideal for our weekend celebration. And the grounds are also fabulous but we couldn't enjoy them fully sadly because of the poor weather. Maybe next time!

We stayed here for a family wedding taking place near by rowden Abbey . I must say we had an amazing time . Charlie was very welcoming and very knowledgeable. We had a party of ten of us and each and every room was spotless and had a story behind them .Charlie put on an amazing breakfast and her hospitality was fantastic over the whole stay she couldn't do enough for us nothing was to much trouble for her . I would highly recommend this place to stay if your visiting bromyard .

Natalie, Elgin

I booked Rowden Abbey for the weekend of my Dad's 60th birthday. Charlie who manages the house was extremely helpful and informative when we arrived and throughout our stay. The property is magnificent and everyone had a brilliant time exploring the house and area. We loved Bentley the Great dain and got to meet Ernie the owner who was super friendly. It was a very memorable and special weekend.

Helen, Sidmouth

Beautiful and a well kept wonderful home. Felt like we had stepped back into an Agatha Christie novel. History all around you and maintained to a very high standard. Charlie was warm and welcoming, full of passion and stories of Rowdens history. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place with others.
