The Experience

Off-piste drivers will delight in the approach – down a stone track, over an open field, across a ford and through grassy woodland. You land in a dreamy, bucolic setting with an arboretum and views over two deep water lakes (yes you may swim, and yes you may use a little boat) with island, waterfalls, a small summerhouse that revolves, and a stream teeming with wildlife.

A veranda and patio with table and chairs face south so you won’t miss a thing; writers, artists and those clutching a large drink may take root here on less chilly days. Your wooden cabin is comfortable and very cosy: find one fresh and airy living/dining room with a fully formed kitchen area and plenty of good seating; glass doors open out to the terrace.

The main bedroom has a giant bed with a pretty batik bedspread; the bunk room is fine for adults or children. You’re left homemade jams and usually a cake. The sky will be starry on clear nights.

Reviews

Cara

We stayed here for a few days in May, and I can honestly say I've never been so sad to leave a holiday let! The grounds and surroundings of the lodge are incredible! We felt completely secluded and in our own little world, which was fantastic when we have a dog reactive dog. We didn't leave the holiday let for the entire stay, we just enjoyed being able to take our dog for walks in amazing grounds without the worry of other dogs.We left with one very tired dog!! The lodge itself is beautifully decorated and well equipped! Hope to return very soon!!"

Sheila, Southampton

Beautiful log cabin and grounds , a little difficult to find so more signage would be helpful and fence not totally secured by wire fencing by the ford so my dog was able to get onto public footpath which I was worried about as I thought the 15acres was totally secure luckily no harm done , experienced done wonderful wildlife on and around the lakes and we were very lucky with the weather , not quite as wheelchair friendly as we thought due to steps at both entrances but would visit again

Hellen, Formby

As usual the cottage was great. Wonderful for the dogs to roam free with no disturbance. We toasted Marshmallows on the fire pit. Silence was a welcome break. Wonderful such bliss.

Peter, London

What can I say, we were looking for the perfect place to unwind and have peace and quite where we and our dogs could roam and the Lakeside Retreat didn't disappoint. The owners have clearly put a lot of time and effort into creating such a fantastic scenic environment that to be honest I feel loathed to share because we loved it so much! My only ask is that if we could have had Wi-Fi it would have rounded the whole thing off but nevertheless it didn't spoil our experience - we will be back!

Heather, Derby

This is our 4th visit to Lakesude Retreat and, as always we were not disappointed. Absolute, peace and tranquility and a perfect place to spend our silver wedding anniversary. Yet again, Victoria gave us a warm welcome even though she was away during our stay. Never tire of this place and its beauty- never change a thing!

Introducing

Victoria Orchard

The family have lived around here for many years and have a small estate around Lakeside Retreat suitable for walking and exploring when livestock aren't out. They dredged and relined the lakes with clay, replanted several species of trees and created their woodland and wildlife project which is home to kingfishers, ducks, owls and many others.
