The Experience

Tucked back from the road in its own courtyard, this unusual little house is right in the old heart of Chichester. Enter an open-plan sitting/dining room with a cute kitchen at the back, a warm cosy space of open beams and wooden floors… a dark olive wall here, a blue sofa there, local art, velvet cushions, a wood-burner. Generous Rachel leaves you logs, muffins, Montezuma chocolates, soft towels, flowers, soaps from Molton Brown – every little luxury. She also offers fresh meals and hampers, and her ‘Eat, Drink and Explore’ guide to the area she loves. Bed and bath lie at the top of the carpeted stair and all is airy, peaceful and light, with low beams, latch doors and a classic-but-modern feel. Come morning, head south for the sand dunes of West Wittering, or north for the paths of the South Downs National Park. Or stay put and explore one of the most civilised cities in England; cathedral, theatre, galleries and shops are a stroll away. There’s even private parking in your courtyard garden, but with the station so close, you could roll in by train.

We honestly could not have asked for more. A spotlessly clean property with lots of extra touches that made us feel welcomed and relaxed as soon as we got through the door. Right in the middle of Chichester with off-street parking and all the local shops and restaurants just a minute or two walk away. The owner provided all the information we needed for our stay and we had a great time. If we can, we'll book here again without hesitation.

Absolutely perfect in every way, The Clock House is full of character, extremely comfortable and perfectly placed in a quaint cobbled street right in the centre of beautiful Chichester. Rachel, our host, supplied an amazing welcome food supply, delicious pastries/muffins and everything you need upon arrival. The accommodation was clean, well equipped and just so charming, loved it and wish we could have stayed longer.

We have just returned from three wonderful days at the Clock House. It’s a perfect retreat in central Chichester, well located for shops, restaurants and attractions yet tucked away and private. The accommodation is really super - all high spec and really comfortable. Rachel is a caring host who provided lots of tasty treats we enjoyed during our stay.

What a relief and delight to be back at this cosy and comfy cottage after the pandemic pandemonium! Everything to soothe the soul and nourish the heart is here and no expense has been spared to help you relax and unwind during your stay. Rachel is THE best host anyone could wish for and she has certainly put herself in her guests' place when considering what gives pleasure and satisfies needs. The feeling of being valued and pampered is palpable and this compact hideaway is very special, both in situation, facilities and ambiance.

Clock House is a boutique gem of accommodation in the centre of Chichester. Rachel has put all her love of design in to this house. Her generosity to her guests offers unlimited advice and welcoming provisions on arrival. She excels in fantastic attention to detail. A property not to be missed. Barbara and Arthur

We completely agree with the other positive reviews. We spent an enjoyable few days stay in this delightful and very well appointed character cottage which is conveniently situated in the heart of the old city and comparatively short car journeys to the coast and the lovely South Downs. We thoroughly recommend this delightful property.

The Clock House is a beautifully presented property . It has everything for a special stay. An oasis in the heart of Chichester with everything to do and see just a short walk away . Would highly recommend for a short stay

Beautifully presented period property in a fantastic location. Personal touches from the minute you arrive and every detail carefully taken care of, everything you could possibly need under a small yet perfectly formed roof. Stunning bedroom with exposed beams and the most comfortable bed ever! Lovely little courtyard garden with ample parking for my beloved car behind the posh electric gates! A wonderful little getaway, my girlfriend and I had a great time!

Steve, Worthing

This was a perfect place to stay to explore Chichester , being right in the middle of the city , whilst being quiet and peaceful and offering a cosy retreat to relax by the wood burning stove. I cannot praise the owner, Rachel, enough. Nothing was too much trouble and the extra touches she’s made for the visitor’s enjoyment are really lovely. Rachel’s attentiveness extended to posting my mobile phone back to me after I left it behind ! and refusing to take the postage out of our deposit. She is exactly the kind of host everyone would wish for. We would most definitely stay here again .

The Clockhouse is a gorgeous place to stay. Rachel seems to have thought of everything. The interior design is beautiful with soft velvet sofas and fabulous textiles. All appliances are top quality... Rachel even thought to leave us some delicious baked goodies, including gluten free varieties for my husband. We particularly liked the log burning fire, thoughtfully set and ready to go. And the Molton Brown toiletries, plus thoughtful touches like the spare phone charger put The Clockhouse head and shoulders above any other self catering place we have tried.... We had the best of weekends.

Wow! The Clock House is an amazing place to stay! Everything is perfect and so tastefully decorated......Location is spot on....Loved, loved, loved it and can't wait to come back. Big thanks to Rachel.

From the moment we put the key in the lock, this delightful little house was perfect for our visit to Chichester. We were greeted by delicious cakes for tea and on exploring the kitchen, found pastries, bread, milk, juice, tea and coffee all provided. The kitchen was fantastically equipped ... Molton Brown soaps and lotions ...and ..big, fluffy towels to choose from, a very comfy bed with the sunlight streaming in each morning; piles of DVD’s to watch, a fire set in the wood burner - not used in August I might add! The Clock House is a beautifully appointed and situated place - book it!

10 out of 10 - what can I say, a woman's heart is her home and after staying here it is clear to see the love, warmth and care that Rachel has put into the Clock House. Everyone needs a Rachel in their lives, I have decided!......Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful house...hope to return on an anniversary trip in the future.

We came across the Clock House whist wandering around Chichester a couple of years ago and thought it looked a pretty place to stay - so here we are! But it is so much more than pretty - it has exceeded our expectations. Your attention to detail Rachel is amazing. We will be back! Thank you so much.

Our second stay at The Clockhouse was every bit as wonderful as our first. This beautiful house has everything needed for a relaxing and luxurious break. Rachel is attentive and helpful and goes above and beyond to ensure that everything is perfect. Tony successfully completed his dream of flying in a Spitfire from Goodwood this time which was amazing. All in all a faultless holiday which we will remember forever. Thank you Rachel.

This is just the best, we could not fault it for all thoughtful touches that the owner had left. Its beautifully fitted out with flowers everywhere and good quality tea and coffee and food staples to get you going. The house was perfectly situated right in the middle of the old city but situated in a no through street so as quiet as being off a country lane. The shops and the cathedral were just a stroll away as was the Festival Theatre. The little courtyard could accommodate the car and was bathed in sunshine for much of the day and a lovely spot to enjoy your evening glass of wine.

janet, high wycombe

Something of a Mary Poppins house - practically perfect in every way. In fact scratch that I think it is perfect! Great location, beautifully decorated and equipped, full of character, amazingly luxurious bed, duvet and pillows, towels thicker than most carpets. But most of all are the final touches that Rachel leaves that truly make you feel welcome, fresh flowers, pastries, wine, tea, coffee and much more. Left (very reluctantly)feeling truly valued and pampered. This really is a special place to stay.

David, Faringdon

We enjoyed our stay very much everything you could want for and more and we were property searching and we have found our dream home while staying in The Clock House .

Jacqueline, London

This is a superb, well-maintained property affording a relaxing stay in a charming city. Everything is provided; the decor is beautiful and certainly to our taste. Parking is off-road before the front door. Restaurants and food shopping just minutes away. Cathedral 5 minutes; Festival Theatre 5 minutes. Many other splendid houses, gardens and the sea just 30 minutes or so. Great provision of activity ideas in house. This is the best property we have stayed in in over 25 years. Well done Rachel and thank you. Thoroughly recommended. Go on - book it!
