The Experience
Make yourselves comfortable in the living room surrounded by clever lighting and lush plants – the wood-burner will be all ready for you to light (plus plenty of extra logs), pretty sash windows let the light flood in, the sound system is excellent and the sofas just made for loafing. In the kitchen you’ll find milk, juice, bread, pastries and muffins, along with a hand written card from Rachel – she’s an open-handed soul.
On sunny days you’ll be through the cast-iron gates and sitting in the cobbled, walled garden surrounded by jasmine, clematis and big pots of agapanthus, perhaps sipping on something delicious from one of the nearby vineyards you can visit. Bedrooms and bathrooms have mountains of towels, White Company linen, good reading lights and Liberty fabric blinds.
Wander out to great shops and cafés in this vibrant little city with a growing foodie reputation and a thriving farmers’ market twice a month. Rachel’s other lovely little bolthole, The Clock House, is just next door – handy if you’re coming as a six.

A lovely house in the centre of town, but peaceful and secluded, with every amenity you could wish for. We had a small problem with the dishwasher and Rachel couldn't have done more to help! She was so accommodating. We will be back.

This was a return visit for us and we loved it as much as the first time. The accommodation is very comfortable and fitted to a high standard only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Everything works and is spotless. We were greeted as before by bread, pastries, croissants, milk, butter and juices. Plus there were fresh flowers and a Christmas tree and decorations. Thank you Rachel for leaving the wood burner ready to use and with instructions. Very helpful. We cannot recommend this property highly enough.

We absolutely loved No 1 The Courtyard and would definitely go back! I stayed with my two boys in the week before Christmas and were greeted by twinkling fairy lights on a gorgeous tree, delicious provisions in the fridge, warm fluffy towels, fantastically comfortable beds and a really well kitted-out kitchen with clear instructions for everything including how to light the wood-burner. If you want a luxurious, quiet place that's just a two minute walk from central Chichester - and with its own parking - this is it. Absolutely perfect. Thank you, Rachel!

Introducing
Rachel King
The owners live elsewhere and their daughter-in-law Rachel manages this house and two others. She is just 15 minutes away if you need any help but leaves you two beautifully-prepared booklets - one about the house and another about the area.
Our second stay at The Courtyard and we didn't want to leave. It's a beautiful house with a real sense of luxury in the perfect location. We unpacked the car when we arrived and didn't need it again until we packed to come home. Despite being central to the shops and restaurants, it's very peaceful and private. We explored the local park, walked the city walls and wandered through The Bishop's Palace Garden this trip having gone to the theatre when we stayed at the house with our children last time. It was the perfect break.
