Maison Montruf

This is a very special place indeed- the owners have transformed this lovely stone house into a perfect holiday home- with loads of places to gather, eat, cook, sleep and play. The surrounding countryside is unspoilt and peaceful and incredible walks start from the moment you take a step out the front door. The wonders of the Dordogne await you, if you can bear to leave the property.

My family and I had a superb holiday at Maison Montruf. Charlotte and Paul could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The house was amazing, beautiful surroundings, lovely pool which had a perfect temperature for my grandson. The house was very well equipped with everything we could have possibly needed. Charlotte and Paul gave us plenty of information for local amenities such shops, markets and places to visit, some great recommendations on places to eat and of course the perfect place to go kayaking. I would highly recommend the Maison Montruf for a fantastic holiday.

We (a multi-generational bunch) had a wonderful time at Maison Montruf. The house is fabulous, the pool is divine, we all fell in love with Monty and Rufus, and Paul and Charlotte could not have been more attentive, caring and helpful as hosts, wanting us to have as good a stay as possible. It was a privilege to be able to stay in such a house in such a beautiful setting for two weeks in the height of summer. The local area is great as well. Saint Leon has some lovely restaurants and a couple of decent ice cream parlours to boot. Caves, canoeing, a top bakery etc all added to the hols…

Paul & Charlotte were exquisite hosts pre our arrival and during our stay, they went above and beyond, booking restaurants for us & recommending a private chef. The house itself is stunning with every detail thought of with a very well appointed kitchen, the most comfortable of beds and lots of games and activities to keep everyone entertained. the views from the garden across the valley are stunning and offer the perfect place to watch magnificent sunsets. It truly is a very special place

Maison Montruf is to put it simply - a paradise. A fantastic building in a wonderful location, with elegant appointments and amenities throughout. But what makes it so special are the owners Paul and Charlotte who are not only knowledgable about the area but also are willing to help out with any issue no matter how small; always with kindness, charm and wit. Thoroughly recommended and repeat visits from us very likely!

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Maison Montruf. Paul and Charlotte are the most welcoming and helpful hosts you could wish for. The villa is in a stunning location, with great views across the valley. The villa is perfect - spacious, clean and luxuriously equipped, a truly wonderful place to stay. The pool is also really lovely, well maintained, with great views and kept at a great temperature. And dont forget the garden - really beautiful! Thank you for a memorable holiday.

This was our second stay, and it was as perfect as the first. Maison Montruf as a wonderful place. It is full of character and set in a stunning location. You could not wish for more and the hosts, Paul and Charlotte, do everything to make your stay a memorable one.

Superb accommodation in the Dordogne. We were a group of 4 couples staying & there was plenty of space for us all. Very high standard of cleanliness. The kitchen was very well equipped, making evening meals a pleasure to prepare. The outside dining area was a lovely touch. We had a very enjoyable stay & will looking to rebook at some point in the near future. Charlotte & Paul are perfect hosts.

Exceptional accommodation with stunning views. The house had everything & more. Paul & Charlotte were on hand with lots of information. We were a party of 4 couples & the space was more than adequate. The pool area & outside dining were great, with sun loungers & parasols. This truly is a 5 star accommodation.. Would recommend to anyone, peace & quiet. We will be returning.

An exceptional property with exceptional owners. Photos really do not do justice to how perfect Maison Montruf is. Everything you could ask for and more is provided. The house is furnished and equipped to such a high standard. It is so comfortable! Plenty of space, the pool and pool table were a real hit with our teenagers. It is a house for all ages. Charlotte and Paul are wonderful hosts who go above and beyond. They are never intrusive but always there if you need them. The local area is also beautiful if you can bring yourself to leave the house.

As previous reviewers have said, the photos do not do the house justice, not only is it stunningly beautiful it is also in the most beautiful location. Paul & Charlotte are the perfect hosts, even before we arrived they had great communication and offered some really good recommendations, nothing was too much trouble, and although they live on site their presence was incredibly discreet. The house has everything you need and is incredibly well appointed, we all agreed the beds were the most comfortable we had slept in!

Paul and Charlotte gave us an exceptional welcome in their magnificent house. We were 6 adults and 3 babies, and had never been so well received in the past. Paul and Charlotte thought of everything, and even invested in new equipment to welcome our children, which greatly facilitated our stay. The house is ideal for several families with its 3 floors and all the necessary comfort! We will come back with great pleasure!

WOW Maison Montruf did not disappoint. Wonderful location with stunning views. The house was superbly equipped, luxurious bathrooms, super comfy beds & the most stunning location for a pool. Charlotte & Paul are there if you need them but otherwise leave you to just relax & soak up the ambience. A truly wonderful holiday. Pure luxury.

Wow - firstly the photos on the web although beautiful do not do Maison Montruf justice. Its an amazing place and you feel that you are a very welcome part of Paul & Charlotte's home. Superb hosts, very attentive - nothing is too much trouble. The swimming pool is fabulous, our teenagers enjoyed the pool table and to be able to help yourself to fresh vegetables an added bonus. The area is beautiful with lots to do - canoeing on your doorstep, chateaux's, castles, gardens and walled towns nearby and we have to mention our hosts recommendation Petit Leon as a most amazing dining experience.

Maison Montruf is a wonderful place and has it all - wonderful owners/hosts (kind, generous and helpful with their time); a superb set up combining luxury for adults with everything children could possibly want; and an enviable location in the heart of the Perigord Noir near to the fabulous village of St Leon sur Vezere with its beautiful riverside setting and seemingly never ending supply of great restaurants. Superb. 10/10. Repeat visits necessary!

Almost reluctant to reveal just how wonderful Maison Montruf is! Paul & Charlotte have created the perfect rural retreat, with every comfort provided. We were a multigenerational group & there was plenty of space for us to be together but also to spend time apart if we needed to. The surrounding area is teeming with things to do but you will be keen to return to MM for the idyllic location & facilities. Now it’s going to be hard to get another booking…..🙄

Masion Montruf is an amazing place. It is a spacious property, full of charm, and in an outstanding location. Paul and Charlotte were the perfect hosts and made every effort to make sure that our stay was unforgettable. As a party of seven, this was the best family holiday we have had. Once you have stayed here, you will always want to come back! We have already booked for next year.

Maison Montruf proved to be such a perfect spot to spend a week with our family that we wished we had booked two weeks. Paul and Charlotte were consummate hosts—attuned to our comfort and knowledgeable about the area. We found a wonderful balance between relaxation on the property and its environs and adventures out and about.

Having experienced a virtual visit we would love to stay here, it would be a perfect holiday house for us to spend time with our grown kids and their spouses. With lots of exploring to be done, good restaurants and a fab kitchen, it hit all the right spots.
