Small but characterful, this listed tin streamer's cottage is a lovely bolthole from 21st-century pressures. Feel yourself unwind as you swoop along the fabulous coast road, voted the UK's most scenic! Stennack is part of a row of cottages looking out over fields to the coast, half a mile from the village of Pendeen with its shop and three pubs and a green and pleasant 20-minute walk to sandy, secluded Portheras cove. The stone porch opens into a little living room decked in neutrals and a splash of colour. Cream sofa and armchair clustered around the granite inglenook's wood burning stove leave room for a dining table and chairs. The kitchen is compact and well-stocked, just mind your head on the stairs. The quiet, pale-walled double and single rooms make good use of white cotton linen, good mattresses, down pillows and old pine chests. There's a spic and span white-tiled shower room between them. Sit in the gravel garden and take in the sweet scent of the honeysuckle cascading over granite walls, listen to the stream burbling on the other side of the gate. Cornish history is all around you; the area is a World Heritage Site, and the landscape tells the story of hundreds of years of tin mining.
