Few places have it all but this must be one of them. Breathtaking mountain views, a lovely artistic owner and a fascinating, secluded old farm with a flock of sheep; honey-stoned Salivet stands where the cattle sheds and haylofts used to be. Jane, an English artist, lives next door; she and her farming husband have restored and furnished the place simply but beautifully with old beams, terracotta floors, whitewashed walls, stone fireplaces, wood-burning stoves and antique furniture. On summer nights you can sleep on the roof terrace; during the day sit beneath the wisteria, snooze on the lawn under the weeping willow or cool off in the springwater pool. La Sousto is similarly delightful and unspoiled. Jane sells honey and lamb and Merino wool, cooks fabulous meals on request (much organic) and will supply walking itineraries, maps and flower guides to this beautiful area. A perfect artist's haven.
