The Experience
Geetie opened the first organic pub in the world over 20 years ago in London, and she continues to fly the flag for super sustainable cooking and sourcing. Menus, chalked up on the blackboard, change daily. This is fresh, modern cooking at its best: everything is made from scratch, there’s an emphasis on veggie dishes, and the bar snacks are divine (don’t expect bags of crisps here).
This rambling mid-19th century inn has been thoughtfully revived. Inside the feel is welcoming with a good mix of colours, eclectic furniture and local art. Prop up the bar for a glass of something local and organic – we recommend the Negroni.
Tucked upstairs the nine bedrooms (two are dog-friendly, one has a balcony) are as carefully curated as the menus downstairs. Sink into your organic mattress then wander down for breakfast – homemade granola or veggie cooked options will start your day nicely.

This is such a bold and big hearted project that deserves to be a huge success. You have to admire the ambition and dedication to sustainability. But doing it in such a creative and welcoming way. The whole team really care about not just what they're doing, but how and why. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay, a delicious dinner and a breakfast to set up a day of doing... We left inspired!

Location
The neighbourhood
Totnes is Devon's hippy haven with a smorgasbord of independent shops, a cinema and weekend foodie markets. There's also a tempting vineyard, a sturdy Norman castle and a mass of fine Tudor buildings, and, of course, heaps of outdoor activities.
Local points of interest from Geetie Singh Watson
- Totnes has a great high street, full of great independent shops & antique markets. We have Me & East, Drift Records, Zero Waste, Small Folk and Butterworth's Vintage Co. to name just a few of our faves.
- We are not far from the beach or the moor. We are lucky to have some of the best beaches in Europe on our doorstep. Or if you prefer your water not so salty you can wild swimming on the moor, or go canoeing on the river Dart.
- Totnes has a vibrant social scene; Totnes cinema is a 3 minute walk, or if live music and dancing is more your thing there is the Barrel House just round the corner. With lots of festivals, including Sea Change Presents hosted in town, there's lots on!
- Walking and hiking are big around here. The South West Coastal path and Dartmoor offer amazing vistas and sunsets year round.
- We have an amazing food and drink scene, from organic, seasonal dishes at The Bull Inn, to lots of other cafe's, food stalls and fab restaurants, Totnes is the perfect foodie town!

Introducing
Geetie Singh Watson
Geetie grew up on a commune in Herefordshire where much thought was given to our impact on the planet. After going into the restaurant trade she was disillusioned by the lack of a sustainable ethos and soon paved the way for a string of organic pubs. She was awarded an MBE for Services to the Organic Pub Trade in 2009. She's very involved with The Bull and you're looked after by a great team.
We didn't stay - but had a wonderful weekend lunch here. The food was absolutely superb - great veggie options - and the atmosphere was really lovely and relaxed. I would definitely recommend coming to eat and drink here and will be back if ever in Totnes again. I didn't see the bedrooms but am sure they'd be equally as beautiful as the downstairs.
