In a wooded valley deep in the Breton countryside is a cluster of farm buildings, a lazy river winding through the fields below. Robbie and Fiona's children and grandchildren are often around, plus six cats, two dogs and an assortment of horses: it's a lively, family-orientated set up with bags of humour and charm. Close by the Rainbirds' house is another house, while a further property is rented to musicians – there's always something going on. The cottage has traditional stone doorways and oak window frames; in the kitchen/dining room, rush-seated chairs pull up around an oil-clothed table. The dormer-windowed bedrooms are originally decorated with Fiona's artistic and colourful eye; the ground-floor double, ideal for the less mobile, has a huge canopied bed, an old armoire and a hand-painted mural. On one side of the cottage is a gravelled terrace, on the other a big lawn; everywhere, climbing roses and clematis... Fiona loves her garden. One of Robbie's passions is tractors (you'll hear the odd rumble), another is restoring old cars. A place of fun, music and laughter.
