'Eagle House' perches cliffside below gleaming Arcos, as if ready to spring off and soar over river and plain towards the rising sun. Avelina jumped at the chance to transform this classic Andalucian house, adding soft colours, floral fabrics, bright ceramics, a fresh white kitchen, and a terraced garden with plunge pool and view. The view swoops over fertile Guadalete Valley to distant peaks; you dine under the stars. Light and views follow you into the sitting room, where a fire wards off winter's chill and a leather chest serves as coffee table. Or uncork the welcome hamper's wine in the dining room – again blessed with the view. Follow an elegant wooden rail up to two cutely homespun twin rooms, pretty with patterned covers, family photos and wooden wardrobes. The double room is separate from the house, on the street side, cave-like, with a funky blue bathroom. Avelina lives close by in the horse-mad, sherry capital Jerez, and Seville is within reach – that's if Mediterranean beaches (one hour), Grazalema mountains (30 minutes) and white towns (everywhere) don't divert you first.
