The Experience

This big 1789 farmhouse deep in the country has been in the Coulmier family for two generations. Luckily, one half of the main house has been given over to guests with spacious rooms to match a child-friendly garden.

After a big breakfast of croissants, fruits, cold cuts and cheeses, embark on Valérie’s village tour – a three-mile hiking path straight from the door taking in the surrounding countryside. After a day exploring there’s nothing better than the terrace for relaxing – Valérie can rustle up a traditional meal for you if you just want to kick back.

You’re in Champagne country here – the trail can be reached within 20 minutes of the house, so tick the big names off your list and meet small producers too. The town of Châlons-en-Champagne is a 20-minute drive with its museums, gardens, grand cathedral and churches. Take a cruise down the canal for an alternative view of the town.

Reviews

The renovation of the inner courtyard is about to be completed to a pretty stone pavement, with lawn and a beautiful raised wooden basin with water that springs and gives life to this courtyard. For me the strengths of this guest house are the exteriors, vast and beautiful. I can easily imagine having a drink on the terrace with Valérie's breakfast of high quality, authentic and organic produce. Even the value for money is just exceptional.

We had a really lovely stay. We were greeted with a warm welcome and our rooms were perfect, valerie had thought of everything for a comfortable stay. We had a superb dinner and continental breakfast. Highly recommend a stop over. Thankyou valerie ☺☺

A reasonable distance from Calais, on arrival met by a beaming smile from the hostess, Valerie. Nice Room. The evening meal was delicious with numerous courses with good wine, we had an entertaining evening with other guests, some with their young children. Breakfast in the morning was also lovely. Can see why guests choose to return. Valerie enjoys her work!

Excellent stay at au Pre Du Moulin. We were welcomed by Valerie and shown our Double Room which was nicely furnished. I found the bed to be comfortable but restricted in length. The evening meal was fantastic and served with excellent French white wine. A really great venue and we will return as the location is ideal travelling to or from the Calais ferry.

We loved everything about Aupre de Moulin we were greeted by Valerie and her daughter and shown to the suite of rooms where the two of us were staying. The first thing that we liked about our accommodation was the spaciousness, a large bedroom with a very comfortable double bed, an en suite bathroom again very spacious; we had no need for the additional twin bedroom but all added to feeling of spaciousness. Guests have the benefit of the shared dining room and access to the trrace for the use of guests, very welcome as it happens because it was very hot and we were able to sit outside.
