The Experience
This big 1789 farmhouse deep in the country has been in the Coulmier family for two generations. Luckily, one half of the main house has been given over to guests with spacious rooms to match a child-friendly garden.
After a big breakfast of croissants, fruits, cold cuts and cheeses, embark on Valérie’s village tour – a three-mile hiking path straight from the door taking in the surrounding countryside. After a day exploring there’s nothing better than the terrace for relaxing – Valérie can rustle up a traditional meal for you if you just want to kick back.
You’re in Champagne country here – the trail can be reached within 20 minutes of the house, so tick the big names off your list and meet small producers too. The town of Châlons-en-Champagne is a 20-minute drive with its museums, gardens, grand cathedral and churches. Take a cruise down the canal for an alternative view of the town.

Comfortable big room for our family (2 kids). Lovely welcome, fun for the kids on the trampoline and swing. Gorgeous dogs, my children still refer to this as 'google's house'. Beautiful food and wonderful hosts!! Such easy access from the motorway, we will definitely stay here every time we travel down the east of France.

Great place to stay we only stayed one as we were on our way to Tuscany. Valerie Coulmier was a great hostess always smiling and we enjoyed a lovely meal washed down with a bottle of red. Great accommodation, very clean and crisp bed linen. would recommend without any hesitation. Thanks for a wonderful stay Valerie, see you next year.

The neighbourhood
All important supplies can be found in Vertus, just a 15-minute drive away - grab yourself a bottle of the region's best to enjoy on the terrace. Slightly further is Châlons-en-Champagne if you're looking for beautiful architecture and a host of restaurants. Valérie can organise a vineyard tour with a local winery and share her top tips on L'Epine, Troyes and Reims.

- Simply relax in our big garden with its children's games in Summer or watch birds coming and feeding in Winter

Introducing
Valérie & Didier Coulmier
Valérie and Didier are lovely, friendly and knowledgeable hosts. After years in the corporate world, Valérie knew she wanted a change - and this abode was born. Welcoming guests from across the world, she loves ensuring your stay is a special one.
We stayed on our way down to Spain and on the way back. Great welcome, very down to earth and easy going. We were accompanied on a walk by one of the dogs and ate a wonderful meal listening to fabulous piano playing by one of Valerie's daughters. We'll be going back.
