The
Experience

The big 1789 farmhouse deep in the country has been in the Coulmier family for two generations. Luckily, one half of the main house has been given over to guests; an interconnecting suite (poppy-print wallpaper, wooden floors) provides family-sized space to match a child-friendly garden. Elsewhere, rooms are French ‘rustic chic’ to a tee; white lacquered bedsteads and cornflower-blue floral details in one, stylish dark wood and Burgundian limestone with tiny black cabochons in another. Valérie and Didier are lovely, friendly and knowledgeable hosts and will share delicious organic home-grown fare with you.

Reviews

We stayed with out two children in the family suite with adjoining rooms. We had a fantastic stay, with great rooms, friendly service, and lovely traditional food that the kids also enjoyed. Before dinner we sat in the beautiful garden with a cold beer while the kids played on the trampoline. We will definitely go back. We stayed in several nice chambres d'hotes during our holiday and this was the best.

This charming property is equally good as a base for exploring Champagne as it is as a stopover to/from Calais. We chose it for the latter - it's an easy 3-hour run to the Tunnel. You will be guaranteed a warm welcome from Valérie (we did not meet Didier) - our room was very nice indeed, as was dinner in the company of French and Belgian guests. Valérie is an excellent cook who prepared a delicious 4-course dinner with vegetables and fruits sourced from her own garden. The price was good value - 30 Euros per person, wine included (and plenty of it). Thoroughly well recommended.

John, London

A genuinely lovely place with lovely hosts. Fantastic food provided by Valerie. Easy access to the heart of Champagne but off the main tourist route. Perfect!

Alister, Exeter

Only a one night stay as we travelled south. Enjoyed it very much with a lovely host. Would definitely recommend it.

James, Beccles

I loved this chambre d'hote! I knocked on the wrong door but this was not a problem for either the dog or it's owners! Neither was anything else including a request for a glass of champagne which was fulfilled after Valerie had raided her mother-in-law's cellar! This is a most welcoming place and the room and table d'hote were perfect. If we come home by this route again this is where we shall stay.

Richard, Charlbury

Delightful B&B in a tiny village in Southern Champagne. Valerie is a fabulous host. The meals were lovely and Valerie catered to my gluten free requirement. Highly recommend.

Sue, Melbourne

Our 3rd visit to this lovely Chambre d’hotes and as usual it was very welcoming with delicious food and very comfortable room.

Nicola, Deal

Great place to stay we only stayed one as we were on our way to Tuscany. Valerie Coulmier was a great hostess always smiling and we enjoyed a lovely meal washed down with a bottle of red. Great accommodation, very clean and crisp bed linen. would recommend without any hesitation. Thanks for a wonderful stay Valerie, see you next year.

John

We received a very warm welcome as we travelled south through France. Lovely hosts serving an excellent evening meal. The accommodation was very comfortable and the cleanliness was of the highest possible standard. This B&B is well worth finding if you are anywhere near the area and we would definitely book here again.

Stephen

A truly wonderful stay in a very well presented and delightful property. From the moment we arrived through to the time of our departure we were extremely well looked after by Valérie a most charming and friendly hostess. The evening meal, cooked by Valérie, was excellent. Our room was nicely decorated and of the highest standard. A magical experience and we wouldn't hesitate to visit again in the future.

Ian

A very friendly Sawday "5 Star" location. Accommodation was outstanding, friendly hostess, fine food, two well behaved dogs and when we were there interesting fellow guests. We will return and recommend to friends

Chris

We stayed en route south to the Alps. We found Valerie veer friendly and welcoming, the evening meal was lovely and the rooms spacious and clean- much bigger than they appear from the photos on the website. I can thoroughly recommend staying here.

Rosie

A very pleasant overnight stay. Comfortable room and excellent meal - Valerie is a welcoming hostess.

Peter

A very enjoyable stay, lovely bedroom and dinner and great to meet Valerie and Didier. A tip top experience!

Pippa

An utterly enjoyable experience. The rooms were very comfortable with all the things a visiting guest could possibly require - even a comb and eye cleaners! The food was delicious and having visited once it must now become a necessary stop on our period visits to Switzerland

Richard

Excellant in all respects highly recommended

Philip

Valerie made us feel very welcome. Room was charming and breakfast was excellent. dinner. Dinner was delicious and plentiful . We stayed one night on way back to Zeebrugge ferry but this place merits a longer visit.

Elinor

Valerie was a tremendously welcoming and thoughtful host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.We were struck by the wide open spaces surrounding Au Pre du Moulin and loved to meet "Google"the Coulmier's enormous but very quiet and friendly Leonberger dog !
