The Experience

It’s a light-filled space, cleverly designed to make the most of every inch. All is sparklingly new and neat-as-a-pin with plenty of seating, a table in the window for gazing, big comfy sofa and a huge TV in case you’re stuck indoors. There’s plenty of space in the kitchen for two to cook together and all the kit you might need plus a welcoming gin and tonic, crisps and all the basics.

The bedroom has another TV, a high bed made by a local carpenter and smooth Egyptian cotton bedding; the separate bathroom has both a shower and bath for easing well-walked limbs. There’s no garden but you’re on a private, little-used road so it’s quite possible to sit outside the front of the house with a cup of tea or a sundowner.

Mostly you’ll be mooching around the independent shops in town, joining the Coast Path for view-filled walks, packing up a picnic and heading for one of the many sandy beaches nearby or taking to the water by boat.

Reviews

This fabulous apartment is beautifully decorated and the space has been cleverly maximised. Very well-equipped with luxurious furnishings and artwork. The sea and estuary views from the living room are to die for. Ideally located in the heart of the town, yet in a lovely peaceful spot.

Location

The neighbourhood

Fowey has a bustling harbour with boats to watch or board for cruises. Some excellent places to eat include Appletons, Pintxo and Buffala – booking ahead where possible is advisable, especially in summer. Buy local produce from Kittows Deli in town, just a short walk from the apartment; set off for some excellent sandy beaches. The closest rail station is in Par, a 10-minute drive.

Local points of interest from Alison Smith

  • The apartment is located high above the town centre offering lovely views over Fowey roof tops out to the river and the hills beyond.
  • The apartment forms part of a self contained Victorian house which has been cleverly refurbished to create two apartments which can be taken separately or together. Two kitchens and living rooms provides the perfect solution for multigenerational groups.
  • A very spacious apartment with its own front door. The road outside is private and rarely used so it is possible to sit outside to enjoy the view, a cup of coffee or a glass of wine! The ultimate in luxury and comfort to ensure a very relaxing holiday.
  • Very close but away from the town centre where there are a lovely selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. A stones throw also from the main car park so parking although not private is easily accessible.
  • Plenty of lovely coastal walks and small intimate beach nearby for that early morning dip! Dogs welcome to join their owners to the pub and along the coastal path. For a small fee per stay. Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project close by.
  • Fowey is a historic Cornish port with connections to famous authors. Fowey Literary Festival in early May is a must, as is the Regatta Week in August and the Christmas Fair in early December. Plenty of things to see and do in all weathers.
