The Experience
Inspired by a miniature showman’s wagon, these caravans are the clever work of owner Chris. One wagon houses the bedroom, up short ladder steps, very snug and with the big inviting bed filling its width. Lovely to be cosy in here and listen to the rain beating on the curved roof. The other wagon is the bathroom, with a free-standing cast-iron bath at centre stage – definitely one to linger in.
The sitting room has been crafted from a 17th century rustic bothy built into the bank and has plenty of room. Find comfy seating and cushions, rugs and furs, a relaxing woody smell from the Franklin wood-burner and a well set-up kitchen with a generous hamper of local food.
You have your own sheltered outdoor hot tub and, down the garden, a fire pit and chairs under an arbour. Listen out for owls, stare at the constellations, the feel is very private.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're surrounded by mature oaks and a lively pond (you may spot otters) and the wildflowers in spring are wonderful. Bring binoculars for tawny owls, sparrow hawks, finches and chiffchaffs. It's 4 miles to Bude for plenty of places to eat and shop - you can walk there in an hour or so, partly along the canal tow path. The nearest pub for a pint (no food) is in Marhamchurch, 1.5 miles.
Local points of interest from Jan Jopling
- Bude is large enough to provide a good range of facilities with a choice of accommodation, shops, restaurants and activity providers, yet it retains its Cornish charm. The town is quiet and relaxed, with a cool laid-back vibe.
- The famous Bude sea pool a semi-natural sea pool where people can swim safely, looking over Summerleaze Beach, is brilliant for year-round cold-water enthusiasts, really cold!
- Bude Artisan Market runs every Friday, 10am – 3pm from Good Friday until the end of September, showcasing lots of friendly wonderful local producers and makers. Expect to find pastries, cheeses, coffee, cake, jams and chutneys.
- A short drive away from Bude are the beautiful towns of Boscastle and Tintagel, full of history and tales of the past and both interesting shops and places to eat, or visit the lovely, cobbled village of Clovelly for a steep old walk.
- 2023 is Bude's 34th Jazz Fest. Running from the 29th of August to 1st September. The music on offer ranges from blues and ragtime to mainstream and bop with an especially rich choice of old-style New Orleans and classic jazz.
- Bude canal is very pretty, awash with bobbing ducks, a great spot for a picnic. You can hire SUP boards and pedalos for a play on the water.

Introducing
Jan Jopling
Having moved around the UK working and renovating houses in their spare time, Chris and Jan decided to up sticks with their 3 daughters and 12 pigs to the South West. In 2010 they bought the derelict farm buildings here and began the creation of their beautiful thatched home and holiday spaces. They're a great team, covering between them everything from the big picture to the small details.
There's an intriguing, well-cared for feel to the cluster of buildings the Jopling's have created - a great place for nights in by the wood-burning stove and for nights out star-gazing from the hot tub.
