The Experience

Once used for drying hops, this thoroughly set-to-rights space is now a light, bright and view-filled place to come home to after wonderful walks, trips to Ledbury, a day out at the races or a puff up Hay Bluff. The open-plan sitting and dining room is on the second floor to make the most of the views: comfortable, restful and warm, with a big table for companionable meals. The immaculate kitchen has all the gear you need and a very generous welcome hamper will be waiting.

Bedrooms (two on the ground floor, the master up in the eaves) are simple, with the odd splash of colour from a rug or picture. The main bathroom is downstairs, underfloor heated and with Sukin soaps, the shower room is on the first floor. The only noise is the clip-clop of horses in the morning – you’re beside a working race horse yard and there are ducks and chickens pottering.

Play tennis, use the garage gym, have a barbecue, light the firepit, feel calm.

Reviews

The Hopkiln was homely and set in beautiful surroundings in the countryside. Easy to find with clear directions given by Claire. Peaceful location but only max 10 minutes drive to Ledbury and only a bit further to Malvern Hills. Stunning property with all mod cons and very comfortable. Claire is an excellent host - friendly, helpful and always willing to offer advice of the area and made us feel at home - thank you!

A 5 star + stay. A lovely house, very well equipped, warm and dry - felt like home and a place to come back to time and again. The kitchen has all you could ask for.... Claire delighted us with a lovely, decorated Christmas tree. We had wet, windy winter weather - lots of mud on our walks and runs - and having a large utility room with both washer and dryer was a boon. The double oven was a treat for our Christmas dinner cooking session. The house was spotless throughout, impressively clean.

Wow is all I can say. What a beautiful weekend break! ....Claire has a tasteful eye for design, understated and elegant but very high quality....On arrival you are greeted with rolling, unspoiled countryside views outside, and then inside the Hopkiln didn’t disappoint. Claire curated a delicious welcome pack filled with farm shop goodies that went down a treat. The living/ kitchen area is particularly lovely... Claire couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive throughout our stay..Local Ledbury is a real treat, a quaint market town- with plenty of shops nearby too. Thank you again Claire,..

Beautiful property and an incredible stay! Claire is all you want from a host, super responsive...The Hopkiln was pristine, comfortable and everything was beautifully designed and high quality, all the amenities we could possibly need. The very generous welcome basket of local products (granola, bread, bacon, eggs, bread, jam etc) was a lovely touch as well. Lily Hall Farm is in the most stunning setting ...The area around Ledbury has an abundance of lovely places to eat and keep you entertained…Highly recommend Lilly Hall Hopkiln and we will most certainly be back.

My family and I had the most wonderful stay at Lilly Hall Hopkiln, we didn't want to leave! The house is super comfortable and well equipped, and is set in beautiful surroundings. Claire and Ed were very generous with their time, showing us around the stables and providing very quick responses to all my questions. We had use of the pristine tennis court which our two teenage boys loved, we couldn't keep them off it! There is plenty to do locally but I would happily return and not leave the house and grounds for a week ;-). Thank you Claire and Ed!

Eleanor

The property was immaculate and beautifully renovated, set in peaceful stunning countryside. It was stocked with everything one could possibly need. Claire was lovely host and had left an assortment of local food produce, bacon, bread, butter jam etc. We used the tennis courts and played scrabble, (supplied along with other games and cards) and had long walks in the Malvern Hills and surrounding area. I would definitely recommend this property .

Martine, London

The house was beautiful, clean, comfortable and extremely well kitted out (the kitchen in particular was very good and immaculately clean). The host also left an array of delicious food products - including essentials such as bread, milk, butter etc - all very thoughtful and considerate. All in all… very cosy and relaxing. The grounds around the house are also to be mentioned - very picturesque…honeysuckle around the door, not a weed in sight, clever planting of trees etc, and the hosts generously make available their tennis court. I would without hesitation stay in the house again.

Everything about the Hopkiln is delightful. Claire has really considered everything. Highlights: Pristine bed linen. Board games and cards. The locally sourced food items that were left as a welcome. An abundance of shower gel, toilet paper etc. Really comfy sofa area. A group of four of us stayed for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding at Eastnor Castle (worth a visit), but I would love to go back to explore more of the beautiful surroundings. If you’re looking for a peaceful stay in a quiet, rural location but with restaurants etc a short drive away, this is the place for you.

Claire and Ed were great hosts. The Hopkiln is beautifully converted. My 85 year old mum really enjoyed the environment, as did we. The top room is in the former kiln tower. Perfect for those who enjoy quality peace and quiet within green surroundings. We all thoroughly enjoyed a tour of the stables - very educational and fascinating. Indoors is very comfortable, the beds with excellent quality pillows, duvet and linen, ensuring a good night's sleep. Everything is prepared very generously, no sense of skimping or cutting corners at all, fully deserving of five stars across all categories.

Absolutely fabulous ‘ we were 5 mature friends 2 couples and a single lady. Everything was exactly as on the web site and in many ways it even exceeded our expectations. Claire was charming very helpful and along with the dogs it made for a perfect welcome. We used the excellent tennis court and followed an OS map for a lovely walk. We will plan to go back and maybe stay a few more days,

A beautiful property, fantastic amenities and gorgeously decorated. It felt like a very well cared for home from home. The location is truly magical and it was a very restful stay, just a short distance from lots of fabulous walks, shops and restaurants. Claire was incredibly accommodating given the short notice of the booking and the place was pristine. It felt extremely private but was helpful to know they were nearby should there have been any issues. Cannot recommend the Hopkiln enough!

Emily

Lilly Hall Hopkiln is spacious, beautifully designed and has glorious countryside views. With easy access to nearby towns, the property is perfectly situated to explore all Herefordshire and the neighbouring counties have to offer!

Location

The neighbourhood

You could spend a whole day in Ledbury, wandering the streets and gawping at the ancient buildings, but the independent shops, cafés and restaurants are excellent too. Cycling (safely store your bikes at the cottage) and walking opportunities are endless, from gentle strolls through woodland to energetic climbs in the Brecon Beacons or Black Mountains. Tour breweries, cider makers and vineyards.
