The Experience

It’s a lovely spot in an AONB, on the edge of a village in the South Downs National Park. The feel is very rural but it’s a five-minute drive to Liphook. The ground floor is open-plan with a sleek modern kitchen and a table for four at one end and a comfortable seating area at the other. The lovely old beams give some character and there are William Morris designs on curtains and cushions. You’ll find books, games and a TV if you’re marooned indoors.

The downstairs bedroom can be a super king or twins, the upstairs a king size; mattresses are super and bedding crisp. Both have light and spacious en suite bathrooms in calming colours. You can sit on the small, bricked terrace overlooking the courtyard for an evening drink, or head to a little grassed garden with a gate 100 metres away, safe for children and nice for sunbathing.

You’ll find biscuits or cake waiting and basics like tea, coffee and milk.

There are superb walks and cycles from the door. Wander one mile to stock up at the village store which also has a café serving freshly made pastries. The award-winning local, the Rising Sun, is renowned for outstanding food and well-kept ales. Local points of interest from Annabel Gaynor

  • Enjoy stunning walks and bike rides directly from your front door taking in views of the spectacular South Downs. Maps can be found in the cottage ready for your arrival.
  • Your just a 30 minute drive from the natural and unspoilt sandy beach of West Wittering, a firm favourite for a family day out.
  • An array of National Trust properties are located a stones throw from the cottage. Petworth House and Uppark being two of our favourites.
  • Sky Park Farm is a great family day out. Get close to deer, enjoy the adventure playground, explore the farm trail and enjoy a coffee or lunch at the deli.
  • The Cathedral city of Chichester is just a 30 minute drive away. See a show at the renowned Chichester Festival Theatre, explore the Cathedral, Art Galleries and shops and visit Chichester Harbour.
  • A short drive away is Goodwood, home to horse racing and motorsport, why not book tickets for the Festival of Speed or Revival. Or visit Cowdray Park Polo Club, take a picnic and enjoy a day of polo in the sunshine.
