The Experience

There’s masses of space indoors with two living rooms, a separate dining room and a big kitchen, so everybody can be doing their own thing and you won’t feel on top of each other – this is the ideal house for inter-generational family gatherings. Cooking will be a breeze and there’s space for everyone to help at the big table. Basics like oil, tea and coffee are waiting and sometimes sausages from the pigs you’ll see in the fields around you.

Bedrooms are all upstairs: the master with a tub in the room plus an en suite shower, two further doubles and two twins. All have a warm, traditional and very comfortable feel with gorgeous views through big windows. Outdoors you’ll find a large garden with lawns for tumbling on, views to the distant water, barbecue and outdoor table and chairs and a wood-fired hot tub in the best spot for stargazing. Children will adore the go-karts and swing.

A ten-minute drive will take you to Beauly for supplies.

Reviews

Fettes Farmhouse is ideal at any time of year - such a relaxing place, with plenty of room inside and out, in a wonderful setting, above the Beauly Firth. With so many lovely walks and wildlife in abundance on the estate so steeped in history, or the numerous interesting corners of the Black Isle, all this with the Highlands beyond, its hills and castles, you are spoilt for choice!

Location

The neighbourhood

The estate is steeped in history, the original building dating from the 11th century. Find the ruined castle further down, near the water. The North Kessock Hotel is 10 minutes down the road, Beauly has good shops and a Highland Tweed Shop. Spot dolphins at Chanonry Point, 15 minutes, or geese at Udale Bay Nature Reserve (25 mins). Both the Glen Ord Whisky Distellery and Black Isle Brewery are only 5 minutes' drive away too.

Local points of interest from Katie Baillie

  • We are 5 minutes off the North Coast 500 route and the bustling town of Beauly which boasts the famous Campbells of Beauly Tweed House as well as Petra Palumbo's homeware store - definitely worth a visit!
  • You're a 10 minute drive to Inverness (M&S is never far away!) and local pubs/restaurants but then enjoy coming back to pure tranquillity on the estate. There is the most beautiful drive along the shore road to North Kessock - even better by bike!
  • We have trout fishing available between May and October in a local stocked dam as well as wild swimming should you fancy a dip!
  • The castle ruin on the Estate is steeped in history dating back to 1153! Enjoy some breath-taking views from the castle gardens which are currently undergoing an exciting revamp.
  • We are 20 minutes from Inverness airport and 10 minutes from Inverness train station should you wish to take the sleeper train all the way from London!
  • Red Squirrels, Pine Marten, Osprey, Roe Deer as well as our Oxford Sandy and Black pigs are just some of the wildlife you can expect to find at Redcastle!

Introducing

Katie Baillie

Katie and James live a little way up the road. They came back from England to take over the running of Redcastle, a family estate. They are the first to have holiday cottages there and very pleased to promote the rural nature of the house and estate.
