The Experience

It’s a grand spot for winding down whether you come for outdoor shenanigans or just to laze about. Your 19th-century cottage in a row of three is bigger inside than it looks and it sits on a quiet road – just the occasional tractor and oodles of birdsong will disturb the peace. The light, bright sitting room has a comfy corner sofa, a log-burner with little seats beside it, cushions with pretty fabrics, shelves of games and books.

Bedrooms upstairs have crisp cotton sheets from Richard Haworth, lino prints reflecting nature, vintage mirrors, pegs for hanging clothes, and beds high enough to tuck your suitcase underneath. Even more books will make bibliophiles very happy. Cook up a storm in the open-plan kitchen with a friendly farmhouse table and chairs, a proper coffee machine and a welcome hamper of Pembrokeshire goodies.

The suntrap garden is the place for long evenings with a barbecue and a good bottle of wine.

Reviews

The cottage was so tastefully decorated everything was luxurious - the beds were so comfy, the kitchen had everything you could ever need and more,...., everything in the cottage was top quality.....There was a fantastic selection of books and games for adults and children. The welcome gifts were very much appreciated after a long drive. The location was itself was great...There are fantastic beaches, national trusts, days out (dinosaur land, Folly's farm) all within 30 mins drive. We have recommended this beautiful cottage to friends and family and will absolutely return.

Such a lovely stay in this beautiful home from home with comfy beds, well-equipped kitchen, and well-stocked bookshelf too. Lots of information on the area provided, and Emma was a very responsive host. Absolutely superb cottage in a fantastic holiday spot.

Sam, Peak District

We have just spent 3 nights at Old Barn Cottage and wished we could have stayed longer. It was our first time in Pembrokeshire and we were perfectly located for exploring the area. The cottage has been beautifully decorated and is surprisingly spacious. It is well equipped with a few bonus extras - lots of good books and a thoughtful welcome pack. The beds were also exceedingly comfortable! Emma was a very responsive host. We would love to stay again when the sun is shining!

Amy

Absolutely gorgeous cottage, immediately felt at home and like a weight had lifted on walking through the door. Lovely little welcome package of local goods and really thoughtful handwritten card. Host could not have been more helpful and accommodating regarding our check in requests. Thank you!

Carys

We absolutely loved our week in the cottage and it suited our family of 5 perfectly. The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and a lovely place to relax after a busy day exploring Pembrokeshire, for which the cottage is really well located. The host was also really helpful before we arrived with recommendations for beaches, walks and activities. We would love to come back and stay, highly recommended! Thank you.

Angela

A remarkably English looking village in gorgeous Pembrokeshire, complete with two pubs and a Grade-II listed church. A very quiet and sleepy place to stay, from which you can easily get to fabulous beaches, explore castles, visit lovely gardens and the walking is sublime, either inland through woodlands and estates or on the rugged Coast Path.

Location

The neighbourhood

The church (a short walk by a stream) is listed and has 12th-century beginnings. You'll also find a little shop and two pubs. Five minutes in the other direction will take you to a tea room in a log cabin - Bramleys. There are little footpaths everywhere for walking, or join the hefty coast path at Manorbier. Pack a picnic and head to many stunning beaches for a grand day out with all the family.

Local points of interest from Emma Eggleston

  • Close to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, there are over 10 stunning beaches within a 30 minute drive (7 only 10 minutes away). Award winning and many with a Blue Flag. Rugged and unspoilt or more traditionally Victorian, nature is impressive here.
  • Being surrounded by coastline means there's plenty of opportunity to enjoy a variety of seaside adventures. From coastal path wanders, sandcastles, sunbathing, Kayaking or SUP hire, Coasteering and Sea Safaris. There is plenty for any age and preference.
  • Day trips to Skomer Island are delightful and will reward the nature seeker with a whole host of flora, fauna and wildlife. Famous for thousands of breeding Puffins from April till July and many other nesting seabirds, Dolphins, Seals and Porpoises too.
  • Steeped in History there are three impressive Castles close by. Pembroke, Carew and Manorbier are all open to visitors. There are many National Trust properties nearby. The Satckpole Estate, boasting Bosherston Lily Ponds and Barafundle Bay to name one.
  • Foodies will enjoy the many offerings in Tenby and near by Narberth, including restaurants, cafes and Deli's. Try Coast Restaurant, Saundersfoot; Loafley Deli, Tenby; Ultracomida, Narberth and The Fernery Fine Dining Restaurant at The Grove, Narberth.
  • There are plenty of attractions for children close to St Florence, including Manor Wildlife Park, Folly Farm, Heatherton World of Activities, Oakwood Theme Park and more. Whatever the season there is plenty to see and do to wile away the hours.

Introducing

Emma Eggleston

Emma (ex teacher, now an exam invigilator) and husband Stuart (head of design for a start-up logistics company) live in Bristol with their four children. This is their family holiday home and they come as often as they can. They're both very keen on the outdoor life, walking, cycling, eating well and being surrounded by nature. Emma has really enjoyed creating this space with guests in mind too.
