The Experience

Bowling down the private tree-lined lane you know you’ve arrived somewhere special. This immaculately restored honey-hued farmhouse and barns set in an L-shape are the perfect set-up for families or large groups with a separate wing wrapping around the swimming pool and terraces. Bedrooms are large and comfy and arranged in the main house, barns and pool house.

This is the Dordogne so you’re surrounded by excellent local markets where you can pick up delicious produce. There are two kitchens – one in the main house, one by the pool – with everything you need to keep cooks happy. You’ll eat in the formal dining room, throw open French doors to the huge terrace or keep it informal with a barbecue.

You hardly need to go out: find peaceful places to read or daydream, float in the saltwater pool, knock balls around the tennis court, sip aperitifs on the terrace as evening melts into night. There’s an excellent golf course nearby and super fast broadband.

Reviews

This is the perfect place to enjoy a family gathering or special birthday, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the French countryside, but with plenty to explore to keep everyone happy. A truly special place for making memories.

Location

The neighbourhood

Tucked amongst rippling hills and acres of sunflowers between the Bastide towns of Duras and Eymet, both with a selection of restaurants. Stock up at superb local markets, riverside Sainte-Foy-la-Grande (13km) is particularly good. The area is awash with boulangeries selling divine patisserie and wine cellars stocking superb local wines. Hire kayaks, visit Bergerac (28km) and numerous châteaux.

Local points of interest from The Owner

  • Wonderful golf course 5 mins away! Chateau des Vigiers, low green fees, country club atmosphere open to all, great brasserie for lunch and smart restaurant for dinner. Must visit!
  • Eymet - 15 mins away from the house and picture perfect 13th century Bastide village. Shops, restaurants, cafes all charming. Market every Thursday morning, night market Tuesday evenings - great fun for the kids!
  • Issigeac - 25 mins away. Beautiful Bastide village with amazing Sunday morning market. Shop and then have long lunch at our restaurant l'Atelier. It makes perfect Sunday. You will need to book.
  • Bergerac is lovely - 20 mins away. Old part of town is stunning and lots of bars. restaurants and of course wine museums.
  • St. Emilion - 40 mins away. Fabulous place for lunch, wine tours and mingling.
  • Bordeaux is a mini-Paris. Same vibe but the centre is all walking and everything in one place. Has all the shops that Paris has, and it makes great day out.

Introducing

The Owner

The owner fell in love with the house on first sight and over the years has made alterations and improvements including building the heated saltwater pool, installing the bifold doors to the terrace and converting the barns into bedrooms. He visits from the UK for family holidays whenever he can. Local chap Jacky keeps everything in shape and a changeover company will meet and greet.
