The Experience

In a tiny valley on the edge of Sauveterre (which hosts a night market every Tuesday in July and August) is a bright comfortable house set over two floors. It’s an easy place to be with four big bedrooms sharing two bathrooms and a kitchen kitted out for those who like to cook. Outside there’s a lovely big garden – hide away with a good book, barbecue on the terrace or do some laps in the pool – and a smart yoga studio.

The Lot is a wondrous landscape of cliffs and canyons, hills blanketed in forests, fields and vines – there are wonderful walks from the house. Head to either river for canoeing, kayaking and watery fun, it’s 20-mins to the Lot or 40-mins to the Dordogne. Hilltop towns abound, Monpazier (18km) is one of the prettiest, tour vineyards and visit foodie markets.

Your hosts are happy to advise on walks, trips, meals out, and can arrange yoga sessions and e-bike hire.

Reviews

Amazing visit, beautiful yoga studio and home! We highly recommend Las Laubios in the south of France! It's a good time for self reflection and growth. Well Done Sam & Alun!

Cindy, Purcellville, VA

A visit to Yoga Loft Retreat will invigorate your mind, body and soul. From the gorgeous accommodations and amenities to the superior hospitality Sam provides to her guests, this Retreat has been nothing short of a regal experience. Book a Yoga class! Sam's knowledge and expertise of this discipline combined with her ability to make a newbie feel comfortable had me hooked after just one class. From the dream inducing beds, luxurious lodgings, availability of electric bike rentals and beautifully groomed grounds to the very private yet convenient location, this is the place to vacation.

Colleen, Innisfil, Ontario

We had a wonderful week here in this beautiful house. It was well equipped and very comfortable. The grounds are a very attractive and offer many places to relax as well as to enjoy a swim in the heated pool. Nearby are a variety of interesting places to visit too. We felt totally spoiled and thank Sam for making us feel so welcome.

Enid, Plymouth

Wonderful relaxing holiday in beautiful Southwest France. The property is super comfortable and well-equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. The pool is in a gorgeous setting with lots of room around it to lounge and socialise. Fantastic place!

Anna, Exeter

A peaceful yoga retreat set in a green glade with frogs and deer for company and a friendly cat - what could be better? With friendly hosts who have created a lovely, light-filled home with every convenience, close to a wealth of the less touristy historic sites of the Lot-et-Garonne. A delight.

Location

The neighbourhood

It's 1.5km to Sauveterre for basic supplies and a rather magnificent 12th century church. The best local eatery is Le Loup Blanc in Saint-Martn-le-Redon or Bistro Chic in Libos (13 mins). Puy L'Eveque on the Lot has lots of choice and is picturesque. Frayssinet-le-Gelat is lovely for moules frites by the lake on a summer evening. Visit Chateau de Calassou vineyard or the stunning Bonaguil castle. Bergerac, Cahors and Agen are all about an hour.

Local points of interest from Samantha Romagnoli

  • The area is very popular for walking, canoeing, cycling or just visiting the vineyards and markets. The house offers yoga as an option but if yoga is not for you, you can explore the extensive forests and rivers. Just check out alltrails.com on the web.
  • This area is known for its truffles and fois gras. There are great restaurants from the simple to five stars. La Petite Tonnelle is the perfect spot to have lunch before you make the steep climb up. If 5* eating is more to your liking, try Le Loup.
  • The valley of 5 castles is 40 minutes by car - a must see along the Dordogne River. At the Châteaux au Beynac you can have a peek at King Richard the Lion Heart's bedroom.
  • There are electric bikes to rent we also offer the added luxuries of being able to book your own beauty treatments or Reiki sessions with our own Yoga Loft Retreat Family specialists.
