The Experience

The living room is light, airy and with a parquet floor, art deco pieces and calming colours. Eat in the dining room or out on the pretty terrace.

The kitchen is compact but has all you need for holiday cooking and the owners can organise caterers if you prefer.

Spend lazy, sunny days in the pretty gardens with deckchairs, pétanque, ping-pong and hook-a-duck in the fountain – this is a great place for children.

A twin bedroom on the ground floor has its own shower room and the double upstairs a big bathroom. Just outside the garden is the old windmill of Ventabren. Clémence can offer to book massages, private yoga and Pilates, beauty treatments and hairdressing. A five-minute drive will take you to shops.

Reviews

Lovely chic place to stay with lots of space for adults and children alike. Children will be endlessly entertained by all the toys and games, not to mention the big pool. Clémence is a very welcoming host who will do everything in her power to ensure you have the best holiday with an unequalled range of services on offer.

Location

The neighbourhood

A Michelin-starred restaurant, Dan B, is a five-minute walk away in the old village. Aix-en-Provence is a 20-minute drive - a lovely old university town with a big market, galleries, fountains, narrow streets and open boulevards to explore. Also a wonderful bookshop selling mainly English books and serving good coffee. Marseille is a 40-minute drive for the old port and modern museums.

Local points of interest from Clémence Roux

  • La Roucoulade has the most beautiful view of the Daudet-style mill in the village of Ventabren.
  • The gîte is a 5 minute walk from the internationally renowned Dan.B 1 star Michelin restaurant. The owner can even arrange a babysitter for you so that you can fully enjoy this unique experience.
  • The property's name is derived from the beautiful birds that come and coo over the fountain in the garden.
  • You can discover the largest aqueduct in the world: the Roquefavour aqueduct 5 minutes from the bastide.
  • The signature apéro of the house is the truffle Burrata.
