The Experience

The apartment is on the second floor of this 16th-century palazzo overlooking a charming square – seemingly unaltered since time immemorial. The living room has an old-fashioned, dignified air with wooden furniture, beamed ceilings, period paintings, oriental rugs and a big L-shaped sofa for relaxing in between bouts of being a tourist. The bedrooms on this floor are well separated from one another, each off a corner of the living room. The fourth bedroom is two floors up and leads to a private roof terrace with panoramic views over the city.

A full walk-in kitchen with a small table has everything cooks might need, there are useful basics left in the cupboards and you can order breakfast ingredients in advance if you want. Eat here or barbecue on the gazebo-covered roof terrace with its sweeping views over the tiled rooftops and gulls flying around overhead.

There’s a good restaurant just below – Le Tartarughe – pasta a speciality of course.

Reviews

A group of 4 to 8 guests will love the comfort of such a centrally located apartment within an historic palazzo owned since the 16th century by the same family. Stroll around the narrow streets of the neighbourhood and commune with the locals at one of the many outdoor cafe's or restaurants specialized in artichoke dishes. Sunset aperitivo on the rooftop terrace with spectacular views is a must.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're in the heart of the old Jewish quarter equidistant to the Colosseum, the Forum, Spanish steps and Pantheon - you can even walk across the Tiber river to the Trastevere quarter. Nearby is the Largo di Torre Argentina, the square where Julius Caesar was spectacularly stabbed. Shop for food in Roscioli, a famous deli; eat in one of the many kosher restaurants serving artichoke specialities.
