The Experience
Built at the end of the 1800s, this was originally a home for stone quarrymen – the quarry itself dates to Roman times and you’ll find the history of this labour of love in the villa. Each room is spacious and filled with interest, and if it rains (rarely) you have a library full of good books and you can listen to a vast musical collection from classical to jazz and everything in between. Views from the open plan living and dining area soar over the garden and lake – it’s all very beautiful.
Bedrooms (one doubles as a snug on the ground floor) are very attractive with antiques and all share those stunning views. There are two kitchens: one in the main living area with a wooden dining table for cooler evenings, and the other in the sun room leading to the garden. Both have plenty of kit and lovely vintage china.
Mostly you’ll be outdoors on one of the terraces, snoozing on the lawn, diving into the lake, relishing being here.

We think you'll love
- Picking fresh tomatoes, peppers and aubergines (in season) from the veg patch, adding herbs from the garden and firing up the barbecue for perfect sunny suppers
- Swimming, paddle boarding, learning to sail, taking a boat tour, making the most of the water surrounding you
- Picking up a pre-ordered shop from the little harbour, bringing it back, feeling lucky to be so prettily marooned
You should know
- The only way to get to any shops or restaurants is by boat, so stock up well and don't forget anything vital
- The garden has many different levels, roped off in parts, but you'll need to watch non-swimmers
- There is one other neighbour about 250 meters from you but otherwise you're alone

Location
The neighbourhood
If you're confident about using a boat then you can pick up shopping from the nearest harbour in about 15 minutes (depending on the weather conditions). Call ahead and book a boat mooring and a terrace table at Il Vapore Torno, a family-run restaurant specialising in fish caught that day. You can hire your boat from Rent Fun Boats in Faggeto Lario – set off independently with a picnic.
Local points of interest from Angela
- The villa is located on a small peninsula on Lake Como nearby Faggeto Lario. It was built in the 19th century inside a stone-mine.
- You're in front of George Clooney's Villa Oleandro on the opposite side of the lake. Say hello to your celebrity neighbour on the other side of the lake drinking your morning coffee.
- Make yourself comfortable on the sunbeds and enjoy the incredible view, drinking cold prosecco.

Introducing
Angela
Angela and Alizée are your contacts for booking your stay – they're from a local agency called Rent All Como, who are available almost round the clock if you need anything and will send you a useful app ahead of check-in.
Arriving here by boat was magical and from then on, it all felt like a dream. Hire a boat and explore one of Italy's most famous lakes. Have shopping delivered to the little harbour where you can collect it, by boat of course, and then pick fresh vegetables from the villa's garden. You can't not enjoy the peace and tranquillity at this outstanding property. Thank you for a wonderful time.
