The Experience

Much of your time will be spent lazing in the garden, sunbathing on the big lawn, floating in the pool, firing up the wood pizza oven or the big barbecue for convivial lunches at the long table under the patio, or under the gazebo in the garden. Long suppers out here as the sun goes down will be restoring. It’s a charming, authentic and relaxing place to be with plenty of space for everybody inside and out. Bedrooms are large and light, bathrooms simple and spotless and there are beach towels waiting too.

The kitchen is an easy place for cooking and you’ll find a welcome pack with fruits, pasta, pasta sauce and milk. Stock up in the village which has all the essentials you need. Head to the coast for a cool down in the sea – the nearest is Cala Calazza where you’ll find turquoise waters and rugged rock formations – and those who like to snorkel will be delighted.

Back at the house you’ll feel very much in the holiday spirit.

We think you'll love

  • Sitting peacefully under the ancient olive trees, glass of local wine in hand, while the cicadas serenade you
  • Feeling very private but being such a short distance to the coast and shops

Reviews

Casale Castelluzzo is an authentic Sicilian villa surrounded by green countryside. The location is great to explore a perhaps less touristy side of Sicily. I love the idea of the wood-fired pizza oven and the possibility to eat al fresco with friends at the long table. You can sense the charm of the Mediterranean vibe.

Location

The neighbourhood

In cooler months, or at cooler times of day, you'll be hiking in the Zingaro Nature Reserve with its magnificent 7km long coastal path of untamed nature, or heading to the Monte Cofano Reserve. The sandy beaches and rocky coves of Baia Santa Margherita are grand for swimming and boat trips. Head to Macari, a five-minute drive, for restaurants serving fresh seafood, tasty pasta and super gelato.

Local points of interest from

  • Monte Cofano Nature Reserve is a protected natural area surrounded by silence and nature. It's a place full of paths along the coast.
  • Riserva dello Zingaro is on of the most admired natural pearls. It's a place where sea and nature meet with a scent of Mediterranean scrub, crystal-clear water.
  • Pocho is a well recommended restaurant in the hamlet of Macari with a family cuisine of Palermo and Trapani.
  • The Island of Mozia with its beautiful salt mine offers a spectaculat landscape. Here the salt is collected with a traditional method.
