The Experience

Much love has been heaped on this 19th-century house. Walls have been taken down to create spacious suites oozing with mood lighting, state-of-the-art switches and a smorgasbord of technology for music or films. You have a pillow menu, fragrant soaps in uber-smart bathrooms, quadruple glazing so you shan’t hear a thing from the street and a bell to ring at any time from 8 to 8 to summon a concierge. Breakfast in your room? A massage? Spanish guitar player? All can be whipped up.

The main atrium sits below a three storey glass ceiling and has plenty of room to sit down comfortably without getting in the way of other guests. Breakfast is laid out here: freshly-baked pan de maiz and croissants from the artisan bakery, jamon iberico and regional cheeses, patés, yogurts and excellent coffee.

Book local tours, art classes, guided walks around Arcos or further. Retire to the communal roof terrace with honesty bar to watch the sun set.

Reviews

Lovely discreet hotel where the staff are exceedingly frendly and accommodating. The room we stayed in was large and well well appointed. Amazing value for money, would definitely stay here again.

Location

The neighbourhood

Arcos has a thousand years of history under its belt, with Neolithic roots, then the Romans then warring Moors and Christians, so plenty to discover. The 11th-century castle, surrounded by ancient olives sits high on a spur for stunning views. Shops, boutiques, churches, restaurants and tourist attractions are steps away. Recommendations for eating out are La Chuminá and a good Moroccan place.

Local points of interest from Paul Pears & Gareth Roberts

  • Your first visit should be to the historic old town of Arcos. A short stroll up Calle Corredera brings you to this fascinating collection of pre-Roman churches, monasteries, and the towns imposing castle.
  • Arcos de la Frontera is the first of the white hilltop villages throughout the Sierra de Cadiz, and is often referred to by many publications as "the most beautiful in Spain."
  • The Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park is just a 30 minute drive from us. Here you'll discover over 51,000 hectares of mountain ranges, flora & fauna, and species of wildlife.
  • The historic port city of Cadiz (Western Europe's oldest) is just 45 minutes away. The perfect mix of culture, history and beautiful beaches. It's a must see during your stay with us.
  • Take the car to Jerez, around a half hour from Arcos, and discover the worlds best known sherry houses, world famous Andalusian white horses, as well as theatre shows, music performances, and seasonal festas!
  • Feel the passion of our lands with a private performance of Spanish guitar, including local wines, cheese and jamon to savour.

Introducing

Paul Pears & Gareth Roberts

Paul and Gareth (originally from the UK) started their ventures in Portugal with three independent villas. They then moved to Cadiz where they had some apartments but decided to sell up and buy a golf course house on Arcos Gardens - just a 10-minute drive from the house. You are looked after by a tag team of concierges (more like butlers) but you will meet Paul and Gareth who are often popping in.
