The Experience

All is light and airy, with high vaulted ceilings, tall windows, a splendid mix of antique furniture and modern art, even a private chapel should you choose to get married here. The original floor tiles grace the downstairs hallway and there’s plenty of space for all – the main living room is connected to the well-equipped kitchen, creating a huge room for sociable cooking, chatting and eating. High balcony windows open onto the garden where you’ll also find a covered dining room and a barbecue for al fresco meals. A chef can be hired if you prefer not to cook.

Named bedrooms (one on the ground floor) are filled with natural light and have balconies overlooking the garden or over to Pals Beach and the Medes Islands. Each have comfortable seating and swish bathrooms with walk-in showers.

Enjoy sunsets from your balcony, swim in the long pool, doze with a book on a lounger or stroll through pine trees to a beach with turquoise sea.

Reviews

There are special accommodations where one feels immediately at home because magic is there. Ava Senlle is one of them. Not only Marisol and Rolf have restored and brought back to life this historic elegant home and gardens with exquisite taste, but also they have created a real home again for guests to enjoy beauty and natural comfort in the precious setting of the unique Costa Brava.

A wonderful house in Begur. The decoration is exceptional, and it’s all so comfortable. The garden is wonderful. The sea views are a definite plus, and on sunny days the pool is great to have. What more can I say, other than that you should discover this lovely relaxing corner of Catalonia for yourself?

We had the pleasure of staying at Ava Senllé for a theme party with around 50 people, and it was an unforgettable experience. This stunning villa, decorated by the owners and our friends, Rolf and Marisol, exudes elegance and charm. The spaciousness of the villa was perfect for our gathering, accommodating all the guests comfortably. It felt like a grand retreat, with ample room for socializing, dining, and enjoying the festivities. The outdoor spaces were equally enchanting, offering breathtaking views. Whether it's for a social gathering or a tranquil getaway, this villa is a hidden gem.

Location

The neighbourhood

Pals and Begur are charming villages with lovely architecture and stunning beaches. Both have weekly street markets (Pals on Tuesday and Begur on Wednesday) and you'll find a good restaurant on the beach at Racó - Solimar - from which you can order paella to eat in or take away. The nearby village of Corçà has a one star Michelin restaurant and Girona has the world famous El Celler de Can Roca.

Local points of interest from Marisol Ferradás & Rolf Rutte

  • Begur Castle mostly consists of the remains of its outer walls these days. However, its position on the top of the tallest hill in the area overlooking the city makes for a pleasant walk and a beautiful panoramic view over the city to the sea.
  • Platja d'En Malaret lies in the curving Cala d’En Malaret in Begur, surrounded by rocky cliffs with the odd house perched and overlooking the view.
  • Platja Fonda lies in a secluded cove, surrounded by rocky walls and backed by a forest. The only access is via a long flight of steps. The effort is well worth it, however, as this wild and beautiful spot is completely unspoiled due to the difficulty in reaching it.
  • Platja de Fornells, lying outside of the city of Begur, is a beautiful location that’s surrounded by homes. The beach has a marina and it is a popular location for visitors and locals during the summer.
  • Platja Cala d'Aiguablava - This lovely spot is framed by rocks and pine trees and with fine golden sand. The beach is easily accessible and it is popular during the summer months.
  • Mirador de la Creu - Located on the Begur Mountains, Mirador de la Creu is a viewpoint, offering a 360-degree panoramic view over the city, Begur Castle and the surrounding countryside, all the way to the sea and the many coves and beaches.

Introducing

Marisol Ferradás & Rolf Rutte

Marisol, originally from Galicia and Rolf, from the Netherlands, met in the United States as they were both working there. They live in Amsterdam where Marisol runs an Arts Foundation and a fashion agency - Rolf works in finance. They have loved the whole process of restoring the house and learning its history from the Coll family, the original owners. There is a local person on hand to greet you.
