Hay Barton

The house is exactly like it looks on the pictures: cosy, comfortable and clean. Jill breakfast are awesome, same as the cakes for cream tea. Blair has a god sense of humor. We felt really well from the first minute. We enjoyed playing tennis, croquet or hide and seek within the farm. Again, a very nice, clean, well furnished place you want to stay for more days. I love the warm welcome and homemade cakes that Jill and Blair offer their guests in their gorgeous Cornish Farmhouse on the Roseland. Breakfasts with eggs from the farm are a real treat and its easy to see why they have won a Sawday's Breakfast Award. A hard tennis court is a real bonus you wouldn't expect to find and there are lots of lovely walks on the coast nearby. Just fabulous in every way.

Thank you so very much dear Jill and Blair for giving us such a wonderful few days in Cornwall. Not only did you provide wonderful hospitality and amazing breakfasts to my husband and my self but when he was taken seriously ill on our second day with you, you pulled out all the stops. Thank you for all you did, from coming to the hospital to bring me my things and bringing me back to your farm, to having my family to stay so that they could visit their dad and grandpa. Hay Barton is an absolute gem - a beautiful old farmhouse, lovingly restored. Jill and Blair can't do enough for you, and serve the best breakfast I've encountered in any B&B anywhere (I'm vegetarian, so often it's a choice between eggs and eggs - but Jill followed homemade granola with poached eggs, spinach, beautifully done tomatoes, homemade baked beans...). I was in Cornwall on a research trip, and the rooms are more than spacious and airy enough to work in. The guest lounge is a lovely space that you actually want to use, complete with an open fire that made it perfect for February.

Our 4 night stay at the Hay Barton in January was wonderful. Jill and Blair looked after us royally, from the warm welcome, most delicious breakfasts ( I loved the home made granola, yogurt and fruit), lovely open fires, helpful suggestions for where to visit, walk and eat and for making us feel very comfortable through out our stay. Excellent.

Perfect in every respect.

It took all of 5 minutes for us to move our minds into this perfect world. All the pressures and stresses are still there but they don't matter. Lengthy descriptions of the place can be summed up in one word. Perfect. Breakfast goes beyond perfection even if that is impossible. The eggs were fresh, they came in from the chickens, still warm, 20 minutes before being presented to us. The granola, the yoghurt and the marmalade are homemade whilst almost everything else is sourced locally. For us breakfast is usually a term for a rushed small meal; here it was a relaxed gastronomic experience.

We would like to heartly endorse what others have written abut this wonderful B and B and their delightful owners. We stayed three nights taking advantage of Hay Barton's proximity to the fabulous coastal walks and NT properties in the region. The legendary breakfasts were enough to carry as through to evening pub suppers even after walking several miles along the coast!

We have just spent four days at this excellent B&B and were pleased to find that Sawday had not let us down - Hay Barton is as good as these previous reviews suggest. Jill and Blaire were so friendly, and even gave us advice on chicken rearing. Don't be afraid to try this B&B if you have a food allergy - I am coeliac and Jill coped admirably. The gluten-free breakfasts were just as good, and Jill provided delicious gluten-free cakes and biscuits for tea. Whilst in a quiet location, this B&B is well located for lovely walks and gardens; and a wide range of options for dinner. Recommended!

I always check out the Sawday guide for the area we want to stay in and have always come up trumps. Hay Barton is no exception, we enjoyed our stay very much. I am grateful for your helpful guides.

Jill and Blair are terrific,we've been staying here for some years now and it's as good now as it was the first time ,in fact it is even better. It is our favourite B&B in Cornwall,go you won't regret it!!!!! BREAKFASTS ARE TO DIE FOR AND THE CAKES ARE EXTREMELY MOREISH.

I don't think I've ever stayed in such a welcoming place. The owners were so helpful. The attention to detail, the food and accommodation were excellent.
