The Experience

Walk straight in to an open plan, living space/gallery with underfloor heating, beamed ceilings, African beaded lampshades and early drawings by Phyllida Barlow. A wood-burning stove belts out the heat and hundreds of books about art and design surround you. Walk through French doors onto a decked area with a Big Green Egg and views across an orchard and fields down to the river.

The kitchen is roomy and all the basics for cooking will be there, including a smart coffee maker and designer plates and bowls. Bedrooms, all en suite, are gorgeous spaces with more art, La-Eva bath stuff, mohair blankets and deep mattresses. The master has its own balcony from which you can watch the bridges over the river light up at dusk. The garden surrounds you, with a big lawn and a wood-fired bath for 2.

Explore the park, wander to the on site café, swim in the outdoor heated saltwater pool, hire bikes and hit the Pentland Hills.

This place is one of our Sawday’s Community Champions – not-for-profit organisations receiving subsidised Sawday’s membership as recognition for their support of causes and communities.

Reviews

The Artist's House is unique place to stay full of interesting artworks. The interior is beautiful and comfortable with panoramic views from the deck and beautiful sunsets. We went out of season and having the sculpture park to ourselves was an absolute treat.

Chris, Crawley

A very special experience staying at the stylish Artist’s House, with the added magic of Jupiter Artland as your back garden. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you Jupiter - definitely a 2021 holiday highlight.

Camilla, Guildford

Stayed for a girls weekend and were honestly blown away with how amazing it was! Great cottage for a retreat to the countryside but also close enough to Edinburgh if you want to visit. Everything in the cottage is beautifully curated and and it feels like such a luxurious place to stay. It is also really spacious and comfortable with great communal spaces, comfy beds and dreamy bathrooms! The staff could not have been nicer, even allowing us to use their venue when the weather disrupted our plans for a BBQ in the garden! Would 100% recommend and already planning when we can come back!

Ruth, Aberdeen

A glorious setting for this old gardener's cottage with far-reaching views, a private garden, acres of sculpture park to explore and superb art work within. A grown-up sort of place .
