The Experience

Marine purity on the north Brittany coast: it’s like a slightly snobby yacht club where you are an old member…expect a warm welcome from owner Monsieur Van Lier, manager Monsieur Barc and the rest of the staff. Nearly all rooms look out to sea – some with balconies or four-poster beds and all are stylish, cosy and filled with light.

Take breakfast in the dining room (there are lots of delicious choices) and explore the indoor seawater pool, treatment spa, sauna, hammam and gym; or book onto one of their yoga retreats or writer’s workshops. You have a choice of great restaurants – perhaps head to the brasserie overlooking the port for lunch and then dine on oysters on the terrace in the evening.

The garden leads down to the beach overlooking the bay of Locquirec; head off one way down the stunning coastal path to marvel at the Pink Granite Coast and the other to discover the Wild Coast. Take in the views or enjoy the surf (there’s a surfing school close by).

Reviews

A contemporary hotel in a wonderful spot, perfect to unwind either on a sun-lounger in the garden overlooking the bay of Locquirec, or taking a well-earned dip in the pool after an invigorating walk along the coast. One can be totally pampered here with massages and spa treatments and then savour the delights of the excellent in-house restaurant and wine cellar! Very French.

Visits annually at least once since 2007 after reading Special Places. Love complete relaxation always. Everything perfect for 'crash out' and only 1 hour from ferry at Roscoff. Sometimes arrive before breakfast is finished !

Location

The neighbourhood

The hotel is tucked away behind the main square of Locquirec, opposite the charming little church of St. Jacques. You’re a 10-minute walk from the small village – find a few cafes, creperies and great beaches. Drive 10 minutes to Café Caplan & Co to enjoy a glass of wine and a book or live music. Plestin Les Greves (10 minutes) has a great Sunday market.

Local points of interest from Monsieur Van Lier & Monsieur Barc

  • Excellent wine cellar.
  • We have a spa, gym, indoor heated pool, sauna and hammam.
  • Beautiful coastal walks from our doorstep.
  • A beach at the end of our garden, and plenty more in the area!
  • Plenty of beautiful ancient stone churches and chateaux to visit.
  • Site of a classic French comedy "L'Hotel de la Plage" and popular with many French writers and actors.
