The Experience

Sandrine and Tanguy are passionate about preserving nature’s balance and they invite you to share their lifestyle, mostly in the great outdoors. You’re encouraged to have breakfast on your terrace which they bring to you: fully organic homemade bread, fig jam, compote, kiwi, cherries and apples from their own trees, kombucha and chicory tea. Immerse yourselves in the peace, quiet and birdsong here.

On sunny days you can step from the garden terrace into the pond and swim with frogs. When it’s cooler you’ll be warm inside with underfloor heating from a central wood boiler, electricity provided by solar panels and highly efficient insulation. You have your own entrance although you are at one end of the owners’ house, there are spare beds and plenty of books to read if you’re stuck indoors.

Borrow bikes and be in the village in 10 minutes, or Louhans which is much bigger, in 30.

Reviews

We were made to feel so welcome at Tanguy and Sandrine's spacious accommodation next to their family home. We enjoyed a fabulous home-cooked vegetarian dinner and breakfast, made with local or home-grown ingredients. We managed a swim in the natural pond, which we definitely recommend! Tanguy is full of interesting stories and couldn't have been more helpful.

Unique and unforgettable! We stayed for one night on our way home to the UK and had a wonderful time. We swam in the natural pool, wandered around the beautiful garden and relaxed with our baby. Sandrine's food was delicious and Tanguy was a fantastic host – he even treated us to a piano recital as the evening drew to a close. Their home is so magical and inspiring but doesn't compromise on comfort. You won't regret staying here!

We stayed at Le Chant du Temps with our four children on a long drive to Switzerland and had a wonderfully restorative time, eating delicious food and sleeping very soundly in the genuine tranquility. It was way more than a stopover. Tanguy and Sandrine couldn’t have been more welcoming, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting them and left feeling inspired by their way of life and energy. We would have loved more time to explore outside and try the pool - we will have to go back! Thank you.

It was an honor to meet Sandrine and Tanguy. What an interesting and creative couple, one can learn so much from them and their experience in life! They have explored different alternatives to live in several sustainable ways, not just one! Congratulations for a enlightening and inspiring path!

Location

The neighbourhood

You're in a quiet and ordinary suburb of the small town of Saint-Usuge which has a grocery store. There are larger shops and restaurants in Saint-Germain-du-Bois (7 kms) or Louhans (9 kms), a typical 'bressane' city with a very well-known Monday market. You're also surrounded by the vineyards of Burgundy with plenty of wine tasting on offer and guided bike tours. Drive through the Chapaize forest to Lys.
