The Experience
Bask by the pool as you gaze on the Cevennes. Go for walks and picnics, snooze in the shade or stroll into Quissac for the weekly market. Return for aperitifs on the huge decked terrace on the hill, with wonderful mountain views.
There’s lots to love on this former farm: tranquillity, hospitality and 90 acres of wild garrigue. Comfy loungers line the big pool, and there’s even an honesty bar. Inside the gites, there’s masses of space for everyone to spread out: 11 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and four kitchens in total. There’s the little Hayloft with its mezzanine bedroom under the rafters, Maison du Coutach for six with its cute terrace overlooking the mountain, and Maison du Domaine and Maison du Tipperhopper which interconnect – both with sparkling open-plan kitchen and living rooms, and space to sleep eight in each.
This is grand area for hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, cycling and horse riding; beaches and the Camargue are 50 minutes away.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're set above the market town of Quissac, which has all you need to stock up – boulangeries, butchers, a supermarket and a popular Wednesday market. There are festivals in the area all year round celebrating, among others, the arts, music, poetry, flowers and the olive harvest. Nimes is 40 minutes and Montpellier 45 for shopping, museums and galleries.
Local points of interest from Caroline & Andrew Lewis
- Lose yourself in the numerous food markets such as Quissac, Sommieres, Uzes or Lunel filled with wonderful fresh local produce all seasonal and at its best. Alternatively pick up a bargain in either of the brocante markets in Anduze or Sommieres.
- If you are a fan of swimming the area is filled with hidden treasures of secluded rivers and lakes. More of a fan of the salted variety, the coast is a 40 kilometres drive to beaches ranging from the upmarket Grand Travers to the wild Espiguette.
- Endless stunning walks to challenge all abilities are abundant. Either making your starting point us up into the nearby Coutach or a short drive to climb the stunning Pic st Loup. You will always be rewarded with magical castles, views and landscapes.
- We are situated in the finest wine area the region has to offer. Wonderful wineries such Mas D'Oncle, Chateau Cazeneuve or La Gravette will tempt you with their wonderful variety of wines and their unerring passion. Why not bring a bottle back to enjoy?
- If you are as adventurous as our six sons you will love the local rock climbing, white water kayaking, extreme canyoning and endless summer festivals where you can party well into the early hours. Then unwind with some quiet fishing on the Vidourle.
- The region has so much to offer but the magical charm of La Deveze means that many guests choose to spend the majority of their time relaxing in the warm sunshine surrounded by idyllic views with all the creature comforts at hand. Why not have a lazy time?

Introducing
Caroline & Andrew Lewis
Caroline and Andrew combined their property development and interior design skills, and with a little help from their six sons they breathed life back into what was a ruined mas, or farmhouse, in 2014. They both worked in the restaurant industry in London and have transferred their hospitality expertise to La Deveze, where they live with their friendly dogs. They love to advise their guests on what to see and do in the area.
