The Experience

There’s lots of space indoors. The guest sitting room is large and light with very comfortable sofas and the dining room has a library, tea and coffee machine, plus an honesty fridge with drinks and snacks. Each side of the second floor has two bedrooms and two bathrooms up a pretty, winding staircase. Beds are extremely luxurious and you’ll hear nought but birdsong as you’re surrounded by farmland.

Outdoors is equally joyful: a beautiful terrace, tables for al fresco meals, lawns for capering and a woodland area. The pool is perfect and there’s a barbecue, bikes, table tennis, football nets – children and teenagers will be fully occupied. The kitchen has every bell and whistle known to man but you can also hire a chef if you prefer not to cook.

A five-minute drive will whisk you to food markets, restaurants and shops, there are footpaths for walking and cycling. Much thought has gone into this place – perfect for families.

Reviews

The pictures shown do not do justice to this beautiful house . It has been finished to an exceptional standard . Chic but homely and comfortable The beds and bedding are to die for . I still dream about being back in one of those comfy beds ... The bathrooms are again super chic finished to very high standards (something that isn't always the case in old houses) For my Birthday my family treated me to a Dinner Party catered by a private chef , what a special night that was . It is a house to totally unwind whether engoying the tranquil setting or running around after your grandchildren .

Absolutely gorgeous chateau! We stayed here over the summer and absolutely loved it. It's been refurbished to an incredibly high standard and is very well equipped with everything you'll need. The bedrooms are all very spacious with incredibly comfy beds. The location is great with shops, restaurants and a supermarket very nearby, which can be rare in rural France. Highly recommended and we can't wait to go back.

Chateau Labarthe, is a very grown up chic, spacious, comfortable place with splendid decor! There's tons to do outside and the gorgeous summer kitchen is ideal for homemade lunches. 10/10 for top of the range bedrooms - super chic.

Chateau Labarthe is just stunning in every way. The area is gorgeous, particularly in sunflower season, it’s just breath taking but the Chateau is really something special. It’s been beautifully renovated, with love, care and style. The bedrooms are super generous, with huge comfy beds, amazing cotton linen and plenty of storage. The bathrooms are gorgeous and the stone bathe was huge! The guest living room is wonderful to sit and relax In or read a book. The pool area is just the place to be on a hot day, with a bottle of the local Rose. There are truly not many places I’d rather be!

A very special and magical place. I spent a few days at the Chateau in January and it is just as beautiful in Winter as it is in Summer. Everything has been so carefully thought through. The bedrooms are spacious yet super cosy (the comfiest beds!) and all the interiors are just stunning - you'll be stealing design ideas whilst relaxing with a glass of wine(s) by the log fire. There's also plenty to do nearby (Auch has some great places to eat) and if you love the outdoors, the Pyrenees are just a drive away. Just wish I could have stayed longer!

Location

The neighbourhood

The chateau is surrounded by farmland but it has quick access to the Auch -Masseube road. Seissan and Masseube are approximately 5-minutes away with lovely local markets, shops and supermarkets. Auch is 20 minutes away with its impressive cathedral, museums and restaurants. Mirande, another pretty town is 15 minutes away, Lectoure. 45-minutes, has chic shops, restaurants and brocante.

Local points of interest from Laura-Ann Yuille

  • Seissan and Masseube are just a 5 minute drive with a great variety of local restaurants and shops. The local markets are on a Friday morning selling local produce from the region.
  • The bustling cathedral town of Auch is 20 minutes away. Wander around the market on a Saturday morning or sample one of the many lovely restaurants. If shopping is your thing, the unique boutiques will have you hooked.
  • Visit the chic town of Lectoure or the famous jazz town of Marciac. Castera Verduzan is only 40 minutes away where the famous Le Florida restaurant and wonderful antique shop can be found.
  • Kids can be kept entertained at the nearby lake of Castlenau Magnoac where you can hire kayaks, stand up paddles or simply just relax on the white sandy beach. The nearby town of Pavie has high lines in the trees that will keep them busy for hours.
  • Hire a chef for the day or even the week, book massages at the chateau, yoga teachers can come to you, hire E-bikes to be delivered to the door, book wine tasting or go to the vineyard, hire a nanny.
  • Looking for adventure? Head up into the stunning Pyrenees for hiking, canyoning, cycling, white water rafting, skiing. Equally, some of the best cycling in France is right on the door step.
