The Experience

This grand old house has been gorgeously furnished with no expense spared, yet has a comfortable and homely feel. It’s gloriously peaceful too, surrounded by 25 acres of gardens sometimes visited by deer and wild boar, and looks out onto vineyards, fields of sunflowers and woods.

There’s plenty of room for different generations to spread out: eat together around the large table on the terrace overlooking the pool, gather in the party barn and games room with a fabulous sweeping staircase up to a TV room, play tennis, boules or croquet.

The pretty village of Montréal is a five-minute drive and has a small supermarket as well as two good restaurants and a pizzeria. There are local markets for most days of the week and you can visit nearby estates offering wine and Armagnac tastings. There’s also an impressive Roman villa in Seviac, 15 minutes away.

Reviews

Panblanc really is exceptional. The feeling of space and light, of ceiling heights, of gorgeous original doors, floors and fireplaces all give a sense of its past grandeur. It's a gorgeous old house with absolute top modern amenities. There are so many areas for guests to enjoy both inside, outside and in the chai. I love it!

Location

The neighbourhood

Turn off a small country lane and down a long drive to reach the domaine. There are plenty of good restaurants in the surrounding villages, including Auberge Fources, 15 minutes away, and Auberge Les Caprices d'Antan in Lannepax, a 25-minute drive. Children will love the aquapark at Gondrin (7 minutes) and Parc Walibi at Agen (50 minutes). There's pony riding at Barbase, 30 minutes away and you're on the Compostella walking route too.

Local points of interest from Karenza Townend

  • Spoilt for choice for bike rides and walks throughout the beautiful countryside
  • Local markets in abundance - offering delicious fresh fruit and vegetables and of course, plenty of cheese and charcuterie
  • We are surrounded by vineyards that offer tastings of the local wines and Armagnac - after all, Condom is the capital of Armagnac
  • Our House Book is brimming with local knowledge - places to visit and all the restaurants in the area - from family friendly to the gastronomic
  • If tennis is your thing, we have a private, all-weather tennis court with beautiful views across the rolling countryside
  • Private yoga sessions and massages can be arranged at the property during your stay

Introducing

Karenza Townend

Karenza and Mike live in London and have travelled extensively, having both grown up in the Far East with ex-pat families. They wanted to buy and renovate a house in Gascony, a region steeped in history and one of the most under populated areas of France, and fell in love with Panblanc the moment they saw it in 2002 - despite in the driving rain in February! They love sharing the house of their dreams with like-minded people - on arrival you'll be met by keyholder Lavinia.
