The Experience

Beauty, harmony, tranquillity… all who stay, long to return. The grand old village maison de maître, in Henri’s family for centuries, opens to soft green rolling meadows and the majestic Pyrénées – the finest view in all France! Basque-born Ione, graceful and gracious mother of two, ushers you up the venerable stair to wonderful warm bedrooms in pastel hues – one with a balcony – and luscious beds wrapped in antique linen. The living room, where a fire roars is a delight to come home to after a day’s skiing or hiking. For summer? A dreamy garden. Exceptional.

We were so glad we found Eth Berye Petit and only sorry that our stay was not longer. Henri and Ione are the most wonderful hosts. You really get the sense that they want you to make the most of your stay and to love their valley and the surrounding mountains as they do. Breakfast on the terrace was a great start to the day and Henri's advice about what to do in the area was really helpful. We very much hope to return and to stay for longer next time.

After moving house, this was just what we needed: a warm welcome to an interesting and comfortable ancient home; quietly-spoken and discreet hosts ready to respond to our needs, giving advice on local walks and restaurants; breakfasts using home-made and local products. Here we found genuine peace, quiet and tranquility. We could happily have stayed longer.

A delight: in Henri's ancient family homein a small village near Lourdes we were given a large room with a huge bed with lace-trimmed linen and a terrace overlooking the lower Pyrenees ( Pyreekneecaps?) Great to have a local restaurant just a few steps away, the owner/chef friendly and accomodating. Over breakfast lovely Ione and Henri were thoughtful and attentive hosts, keen to advise on local attractions.

The room with the balcony is beautiful. The hosts are very friendly and offer superb advice for walking and touring. Great breakfasts. The small village restaurant (Le Petit Couassert) is typically French, quirky and delightful. It has the advantage of being a minutes walk away and Our second night's meal was delicious. Would definitely recommend Eth Berye Petit as a place to stay.

What's a wonderful place. Set in a stunning location but very close to Lourdes sits this amazing B&B. We had great weather too so lucky enough to have the best experience, taking breakfast on the terrace looking towards the snow capped mountains with clear blue sky . What more could you ask for? Our room was bright, clean and very well furnished. Very romantic too. We loved it and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to find a special place to spend time in the Pyrenees. Exceptional.

Words cannot describle what a wonderfully relaxing and inspiring place this is. If you get the chance to book the room with the balcony - do it!. Fantastic views, calm, relaxing, fabulous area to explore. Go to Pic de Midi for certain. Take the advice from your two amazing hosts, Ione and Henri. We visited all the places they recommended. We bought the wines they advised. Two genuinely lovely people who go out of their way to make you feel at home. The breakfasts were great - enough to last you until evening! The atmosphere calm, relaxing. I LOVED this break at their lovely house. Our thanks.

Probably our favourite B&B anywhere! Our 3rd visit and not our last. Ione & Henri are so kind, friendly, generous, happy to spend time with each guest recommending suitable walks, booking restaurants. The house is superbly welcoming & comfortable; the breakfast delicious with Ione's freshly baked cakes / tarts every morning! Stunning scenery all around, fabulous places to visit..........it's all here!!

After a month away in various b and bs, we would still vote this as our absolute favourite . Henri and Ione are gracious generous hosts, sharing time and top tips to help us make the most of our time in the area. Every recommendation worked for us. They have a great little rural restaurant literally a minutes walk a way , and after a substantial breakfast featuring a selection of local cheeses and Iones superb baking, we almost lasted all day on that alone! The bedroom was beautifully decorated in gorgeous linens, some antique , with fine views out across the moody Pyrenees .

What a gem of a place. We are so grateful to Henri and Ione for being such wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts and Ione's baking are simply to die for. Want to know what to do or where to go? Just ask Henri. With his expert knowledge of the area you are sure to have an experience of a life time. Can't praise them enough. A stunning house with amazing views of the Pyrenees.

We spent 3 nights between 31 Oct 3 Nov 2012. Thanks for the advices received from our experienced and friendly hosts and we had 2 wonderful walking tours. (even we survived the icy paths) The room was perfect so as the breakfast, and also the dinners in the recommended neighbouring small restaurant. We want to come back for a week at least to have more time for discover the area. Highly recommended for those who want to escape from the daily rush and want to see by bare eyes the Milky way :)

We spent a lovely week in this delightful B/B. Our hostess was so welcoming and her home cooked breakfasts were delicious. The walking in the area is wonderful.
