The Experience

The gîte has two terraces, one with a dining table and fire pit facing the spectacular views over the medieval town and the other ideal for morning coffee. The open-plan living room has a huge stone château-style fireplace with a lovely wood-burner, comfy sofas and a light, spacious feel. Off here is the sleek kitchen, big enough for helpers and with all the gear a cook might need – you can order a welcome hamper (charged extra) with local Cahors wine and other treats.

Bedrooms have the same stunning view, muted natural colour schemes and the most comfortable beds. These share a large walk-in shower room, stone wash basins with heated towel rails and a separate loo. Wander down to the pool, on a private terrace and surrounded by walled gardens, for a sunbathe or snooze – the peace is palpable.

Montcuq is 2km for a colourful Sunday market. Stock up with lots of local food and bring it back for a barbecue and a chat around the fire pit.

Reviews

This is our second visit in a matter of months to Esther and Marcel’s beautiful B&B, this time staying in their newly-opened gite, both times equally enjoyable. In the summer we had the pleasure of meeting a fellow guest, one of my journalist heroes, Carl Bernstein, who was one of the two American investigatory journalists, who exposed the Watergate scandal which led to the demise of President Nixon. In All the President’s Men, Carl is played by Dustin Hoffman. The gite is the epitome of understated elegance and charm with panoramic views and a beautiful pool. A lovely place to relax.

We had the most wonderful days at Domaine Lapèze! The owners were charming, friendly and making us feel welcome. The gite is very tasteful decorated, comfortable and very well-equipped. Domaine Lapèze is set in a beautiful countryside, within walking distance the nice village Montcuq, with good restaurants, bars and a real French market every Sunday morning, the area is great with so much to explore. Such peaceful and restful days we didn't want to leave and will return for sure.

I spent 3 days at Domaine Lapèze for the second time and it was a party again! the room is so tastefully decorated that you immediately feel at home, it is wonderful to stroll around the house in their serene garden and vineyard. I was lucky enough to see lambs being born in the land in front of the house at this time of the year. the owners Esther and Marcel are super nice and hospitable and there is plenty to see and do in the area around the lot, highly recommended!!!!

Trui, Amsterdam

A stylish and comfortable gîte sleeping four to five, enviably situated with a breathtaking view over Montcuq in the centre of the timeless Quercy Blanc region, where there is just so much to see!

Introducing

Esther & Marcel

Esther and Marcel came from a hectic background in fashion and IT in the Netherlands. They bought the Domaine in 2022 and knew instantly it was the right place for them. Renovations to the property are ongoing and keep them busy but they relish the change of pace and life in rural France. They speak English, French, Dutch and German and are very helpful and friendly.
