The Experience

Villa Les Camélias dates from 1907 and is set in a well-tended garden with Mediterranean plants and trees, including an olive tree as old as the house.

The house is well suited for up to six adults and four children, and there are board games, a TV and books to read if it rains. Wander down the hill for morning croissants and pastries, and choose from six good restaurants at the small Port de la Figueirette, all within easy walking distance. If you want to cook for yourself there’s a well-equipped kitchen and you can dine inside or outside on the terrace.

You can walk in five mins to a super cove and there are beaches with water sports near the restaurants. Lovely sites to visit include the restored Château de la Napoule, and Cannes and the world-famous Croisette are approximately 18kms away. You may hear some road noise and a nearby train but the house is generally quiet and the sea views are spectacular.

Reviews

This is a lovely house and truly reflects the Belle Époque. It is well located for restaurants, marina/sports and many interesting sites. There is constant maintenance being done by the caretaker and the owners, so the house is in good condition. It is very important to be specific that although the house is very comfortable, it can only cater for six adults and four children.

Location

The neighbourhood

The house is set up a hill in La Trayas and although there are neighbours close by they can't be seen or heard. The nearest supermarket is 300m down the hill, with other supermarkets at Théoule-sur-Mer (7km away).

Local points of interest from Sophie Hollanders

  • You are in the Esterel, classified Natura 2000, without habitation. The colors that characterize the Esterel are the red of the volcanic rocks, the blue of the sea and the green of the vegetation.
  • Many cultural activities nearby: Cannes and its Croisette, Grasse and its perfume manufacturers, Biot and its blown glass factories, Antibes and its museums (Picasso, De Stael), Vallauris and its Picasso Museum and of course the whole French Riviera.
  • Many aquatic activities for the whole family at Figueirette beach which is just a 15 minute walk (walk to avoid parking fees and looking for space). Two large sandy beaches with nautical sailing base, paddle, pedalo, towed buoy, jet ski and scuba diving.
  • The wild Esterel offers many paths for hiking, mountain biking, electric mountain biking (rental 8 km from the house). Difficulty levels range from simple to complex. All these activities are possible starting from the villa.
  • The villa allows you to ride a mechanical or electric road bike (rental 8 km) on circuits from a few kilometers to more than 100 km with more or less significant differences in altitude in beautiful seaside landscapes.
  • There are 3 golf clubs within a 15 km distance from the property. Another beach, located 10 kms away offers a range of actitivies: water skiing, parasailing and many more.
