The Experience

Table d’hôtes round the convivial table is the inspiration behind this B&B – which, being perfectionists, this couple do so well. Dinner, locally sourced, sounds delicious, while vegetables come from an immaculate potager. The interiors of their new but traditional village house are equally manicured: the L-shaped living room; the bedrooms, colour-themed and French-cosy, two on the ground floor, their tiles topped by rugs, two under the eaves with honey-coloured boards; all large and super-comfortable. Historic St Omer is a must – for music and markets, bric-a-brac and breweries. Tremendous value.

A wonderful location, great rooms, amazing hosts and excellent food - what else needs to be said! Thanks to Jacqueline & Gilles for a lovely stay - we will be back!

Elizabeth, Gabriac

Superb French hospitality. Beautiful room and lovely food. Gilles and Jacqueline are so welcoming and we enjoyed our French conversation with them - although their English is very good.

We enjoyed a delightful stay with Giles and Jacqueline last week. They made us feel so welcome, we enjoyed a delicious evening meal with them with lively conversation in a most relaxing setting. Breakfast was a mixture of fresh fruits, home made preserves and fresh croissants. Altogether a wonderful stay on our last night in La Belle France .

Mary, Bunbury

Jacqueline et Gilles were the most wonderful hosts. Les Dornes is a fantastic place to stay with charming clean rooms upstairs or downstairs, pretty views and oh so convenient for the Eurotunnel!!! Our evening meal was a delicious feast( I have the recipe now for the starter!) accompanied by a lovely apperitf and wine. Breakfast was equally good. We will be returning in the future!!!

Jane, Cheltenham

We stayed here for one night on our way back to the UK and it was perfect. Warm, comfortable and our hosts Jaqueline and Gilles were kind and thoughtful. We had a delicious meal with them and enjoyed the conversation. Our room was spacious and very well furnished. It was excellent value and we would definitely stay here again. Of course there is the added bonus of it being close to Calais and the Euro-tunnel terminal.

Penny and Steve, Bromyard

A very lovely stay with excellent hosts Gilles and Jaqueline. The room was spacious and elegant. The gardens were pretty and well looked after. Good proximity to the port of Calais so we also stayed on our return from Lake Garda on 2nd July. We had dinner on both occasions joined by our hosts which was very enjoyable. Breakfast was good, Would definately stay again.

Angela, Ledbury, Herefordshire

A perfect place to stay. A charming couple who are most welcoming. Giles is eager to be sure guests are well informed about the local attractions and Jacqueline is a master cook.. Very peaceful yet not off the beaten track. Loved it.

Heather

Although our arrival took them by surprise (because I had made a mistake in my French in our prior communication) Gilles and Jacqueline lost no time in welcoming us warmly. We loved the large prettily furnished bedroom and much enjoyed our friendly conversation over breakfast the next morning. Thank you Gilles and Jacqueline: you are exemplary hosts.

Mary

We stayed for one n ight on our way to Paris. We had a lovely comfortable room with ensuite. The garden is lovely and so peaceful. Gilles and Jaqueline are delightful hosts. We had elected to say for supper and we were so pleased that we had. WE had an kir before supper made with cider, which was unusual and delicious, we had a four course meal with wine and every course was perfect The value for money was amazing. The breakfast was delicious too with fresh fruit salad and home made jam. We will definately return

Sally

Stayed for one night en route from Italy/Chamonix. Just perfect, don't know how we've missed this other years! Jacqueline and Giles are charming hosts, as is their eldest son, who was there for he weekend. The room, the house, the garden, all perfect. We ate a delicious dinner with the family, and enjoyed lively and informative conversation. The breakfast of fresh fruit, croissants, bread, homemade brioche and homemade jams was just as delicious as the dinner the previous evening. If you have time I would suggest you stay for longer

Amanda

Best of B & B's . We highly recommend that you visit this very courteous couple in their lovely home .

David

My wife and I stayed with Jacqueline and Gilles for one night. The room was very nice, clean, well decorated and a very comfortable king size bed. We had dinner with all nine of the other guests. The food and wine were very good. We will stay again.

Gerald

A comfortable and well equipped room, and a tasty evening meal and breakfast. Gilles and Jacquline were both welcoming and good company, making sure conversation flowed easily between all the guests, and smoothing any awkwardness arising from the range of languages spoken. Very convenient for people travelling to and from Calais, as well as for people wanting to stay for a while in an interesting area. Gilles, a keen historian, was knowledgeable and informative about local places of interest.
