Lovers of music will love trilingual Laura, and vice versa. She throws private concerts in the garden villa, displays emerging artists and the house ivories are dying to be tickled – by musicians and amateurs alike. Laura’s personal touches in this leafy, residential quarter of Rome make the charming Urbani sing. Its trees are filled with birdsong and colourful parrots, and the soundtrack continues inside with jazz and classical collections – select your soundtrack then sink into a generous armchair to enjoy it. The early 20th-century building retains original features like Art Nouveau stuccos and frescoes, and the comfortable lounge is home to fresh and savoury breakfast treats; take it to the rooftops in summer. Upstairs, cool high-ceilinged bedrooms range from the family-sized suite to a small stylish single; coordination, comfort and care are in evidence. The Orange Room sports geometric patterns as light and garden views rush in, the Gold room greets with warming, damask-patterned walls, and the family suite has a Japanese leitmotif. Bar-hop in lively Trastevere, or reserve a table at top restaurant Antico Arco moments away.

We absolutely LOVED our stay here at this beautiful villa. The room was clean, with gorgeous high ceilings. It was quiet and relaxing - and only a short walk down into Travestere and away from the busyness of Rome. There was plenty of breakfast with a nice cappucino. We could help ourself to tea later on in the day after miles of walking around Rome. We will definitely come again!

The description sums up perfectly the exquisite qualities of Villa Urbani. We were lucky enough to attend one of Laura's concerts, which was a great delight. The cool, verdant setting of the villa is a welcome antidote to the heat and bustle of the city, yet it's very accessible. There is s bus you can take to the centre but we were happy to walk everywhere. So, all in all, the perfect place for a city break. Laura is a charming host.

This is a lovely place in a lovely district of Rome, ten minutes walk from some terrific local restaurants and the heart of the Trastavere. Laura provides a delightful breakfast and lots of good tips for local and wider travel. Highly recommended!
