The Experience
The owners have poured love and soul into this beautiful hotel – and it shows. There are fabulous views over the Marchegiana countryside to the Adriatic Sea, and the pretty courtyard garden that overlooks the pool is idyllic… the cool, relaxing atmosphere is most refreshing on a hot summer’s day. Inside, you’ll find a unique blend of cultures and styles, from 15th-century features to Art Deco furniture. Bedrooms are boutique in style, but intimate, and with personal touches. There’s even a collection of novels to pore over, and restored antique furniture here and there to complete the effect. The en suite bathrooms are shiny-new with elegant cream tiles and fragrant bath products, and after you’ve scrubbed up, you can look forward to dinner, cooked by chef-patron Tim. Ingredients are fresh and local, recipes are too – along with a few far-flung eastern numbers. What’s more, a wood-fired oven and a local chef are to hand for pizza lovers! If you manage to tear yourself away from this blissful spot, there are guided walks, music festivals and local food markets to keep you busy all summer long.

We visited here on our 8 day 'Secret Tour' of Italy, following in the footsteps of Alex Pollitzi, and have to say that this is of the villages and Hotels that we would happily return to. We loved the views, the rustic charm of Montelparo and the luxury of Hotel Leone. Tim and Madeleine are excellent hosts, there are many special touches much appreciated by British guests, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary water and fruit. It was like staying in a luxury home from home boutique House party venue. We ate here and the choice and quality of dishes were superb, cooked by Tim.

We loved this place. Tim & Madeline have gone the extra mile to make their guests feel very comfortably 'at home'. Our room was large and had a generously stocked minibar, complimentary fruit bowl & cookies, luxurious bathroom and a supremely comfortable bed. We couldn't fault it. Tim's cooking is innovative and delicious - we ate in both nights. And finally, Hotel Leone's situation for exploring the heart of the Marche region is perfect, close enough to the coast and principal towns of interest, and set amidst scenery of unrivalled hillside & mountain beauty. It's a Must Go!

It's probably the best small hotel we have ever stayed in. A great and well equipped room with glorious views, Swiss cleanliness, and excellent food. They were great hosts too.
